2023 Provisional Groupbuild Calendar

Recommended Posts

The Bunfight is approaching fast!  This year there will be nine STGBs and nine standard GBs.  Nevertheless, the Bunfight will be utter carnage!  :D

There will also be two classic GBs which run for a month longer than standard.  Of course there are also the three Blitzbuilds.

Below is a provisional list of dates for the groupbuilds.  Note that some of this years GBs run over into next year, thereby raising the GB count for the first few weeks.

...Just like the groups of Flying Fortresses grinding forward on those unescorted deep penetration raids to Reich airspace in 1943;  imagine all that Jagdwaffe in the air, more and more Staffeln circling the bomber formations to gain altitude and then relentlessly attacking head on from twelve o'clock high...

Oh, didn't anyone mention there's a B-17 STGB in the Bunfight  :giggle: :innocent:

Oh, November is near again! Let there be blood :wicked:

Rather than seeing blood, I would rather see B17s. :clap2:
So LONG live a group build WITH B17s! :yahoo:

There are times on that calendar where there are 9 simultaneous group builds. It's going to be a great year for spreadsheets, critical path analysis and all other forms of project planning.

Well my semi New Years resolution is to only build one build for each GB I enter next year (far too late for that especially as the Prototypes GB is going already set to trample all over that thought) so nine should be err fine.

Plus a 12 month KUTA GB required to follow this

That's in danger of becoming a permanent state of modelling affairs for me. I've totally lost control of myself, with many more starts than finishes.

Spreadsheet!

By the time a person needs a spreadsheet to schedule their modelling it's already too late for a spreadsheet to help.

I'm thinking that an exorcism would be the way to go.

Yes, I'm at the already alarming piece of paper on the wall stage......signs the cross and mumbles an incantation

Spreadsheets don't help. You have to maintain them. That just eats into the time available for starting yet another kit for the shelf

Sacrilege!  :frantic:

Admittedly most of my spreadsheet fiddling happens in between projects at work or on lunch breaks.  Most of the time I'm accessing at home is to check existing AM or paint codes when getting setup for the next build to see what I need to order.  Or to check to see if I "need" another kit I found on sale for a planned scheme.

My spreadsheet allows me to set limits for the number of daily tasks and the number of concurrent builds - although it just gives me a warning if I exceed those limits.  It will also look at the limits and tell me when is the best time to start another unplanned project.    Saturday, by the way.  :D

Welcome to my world! Emabarassingly my KUTA completion rate isn't much better than my standard GB rate, and I suspect a 12 month KUTA would only make the slightest difference!

I use Scalemates to keep track of my stash, KUTA and finished numbers. Currently standing at 23 started, not finished kits :weep:

That makes me feel almost proud of my three stalled projects. (I've been catching up lately.)
