I am cursed with impatience and gross stupidity.

I hope the following pics give you some respite from your mental health issues and I unreservedly and humbly apologise for the distress caused by my ineptitude.

A spraying of Tamiya Flat aluminium and...

Comparing the two finishes I'm leaning towards the Tamiya as the HSS was a bit too shiny for what I wanted and once she gets a final gloss coat it should be what I wanted.

Another happy accident. I got lucky again.

Unmasking later and we'll see what damage was done under the tape.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair

Very nice, and lucky! (although I'm sure there's an element of skill and care in there somewhere...)

Adrian

Thanks Adrian,

I'm not so sure about that, but I'll accept the compliment gracefully. :D

That's a very pretty and colourful Mosquito. No paint ridges, those are the benefits of an airbrush.

Thanks so much,

The airbrush, once you've done the masking makes it so much easier.

Cheers,

Alistair

On that note could you please provide a schematic noting all current thinner location(s)?

All looks rather nice Alistair dear chap.

And on to the decals..

Quite a quick build then.

Stay safe.

Simon.

Thanks Simon,

It's gone a bit quicker than I thought it would.

Still in the vault under the weight and they're not getting out.

Now, I would like to know which complete and utter idiot thought that this scheme would be a good idea.

Oh yes that was me.

The stickers are done and as the Xtradecal letter and numbers sheet was covered in a clear coat it made it a little interesting trying to cut and position 6" lettering in 1/72 scale when the carrier film goes right up to the cut.

It was challenging but it's all done.

I'll let that settle overnight with some softener and get a clear coat on tomorrow, fit the sundry bits and that should be about that.

Thanks for looking,

Alistair

From way back at the start of this WIP when I wrote about the Mosquito being a favourite of mine.

You must thrive on pressure.

Took a few days off BM and when I get back it’s nearly done! Producing a finish that good would be a fantastic feat on its own but doing it in such a short period of time is nothing short of miraculous. No idea how you’re going to top this in your next build, but I’m sure you’ll think of something.

Thanks Mark,

I'm not good under pressure but if I'm engaged in a subject I'm all in.

I put no thought into this scheme before deciding to do it and was caught out by how much work was actually involved.

Serves me right for being smug. :D

It has turned out better than I expected though especially after the crazing.

Thanks Craig,

I kind of need something simple next.

Something I can just throw together.

We'll see. No doubt my ambition will get the better of me again.

Just a wee update,

A satin coat has been applied and it it giving me a nice sheen which matches the pics from Duxford.

I'm just repainting the exhausts as the Maskol ripped off most of the paint and took about 45 minutes to get off. Not doing that again.

Then I'll pop in the remaining clear pieces and you should get some pictures of the finished article later on.

Can't do much just now as the next project is in the loft and various bods are still sleeping.

More later,

Cheers,

Alistair
