Tamiya 1/72 Mitsubishi A6M2b Zero

Recommended Posts

Evening all,

Hot off the bench is Tamiya's stunning little 1/72 A6M2b Zero. Built largely OOB except for some belts from Eduard. I also used one of their canopy masks, because frankly life is too short to do it myself! Finished using AK Real Colours for the main exterior and interior colours, first time using them and very impressive they are too. A mixture of Tamiya, Hataka Orange Line and Alclad were used for the details. This will be the first of a handful of Japanese types I shall be working in in the coming months.

Beautifully built. I'm looking forward to having a crack at this one myself (it being Tamiya, I'm saving it up 'for a treat'!). I can't imagine getting it anywhere near so sharp an clean as this though, astonishing for 1/72. Lovely work.

I love the overall look!!!
Regarding the color, could you indicate what it has been, or the mixture in proportions that they have used?
Thanks.

Andrés.

Of course, I used AK Real Colours RC 303 IJN Amber Grey for the main colour, straight from the bottle as a base before a lgihtened post shade was applied. Seems the most accurate match to my eye compared to other brands I've seen, which bodes well for the other colours of theirs I've purchased for future Japanese builds.

Cheers,

Shaun

Gorgeous aircraft, very well presented and clean painting. Did you use an airbrush or brush?

Airbrushed throughout except for the odd detail here and there
