1/48 Hobbyboss A-6E Intruder

Recommended Posts

I built this one for the Attack/Strike Group Build but only now just got around to taking photos.

This was a challenging build but really a great kit and learning curve. If anyone else builds it I recommend not using the kit decals!

Excellent work! :clap2: The weathering looks very good.

I have this in the stash and while I will use Fightertown or AOA decals on it, I've had good results with HB decals. What was wrong with them?

Actually, the decals themselves were excellent in terms of sticking down and being easy to use. But the artwork had many issues like the rescue arrow saying ESCUE, the blue bars under cockpit being blank (without pilot/copilot names) and my personal favourite:

I did what I could to ESCUE them though!

Brilliant result Arthur, remember it from the GB and the issues you had with it. You've really knocked it into shape and created a great model out of it. :like:

Excellant modelling.

You have done a brilliant job, l built the Kinetic kit in preference to this one, oh what a fool l was, this looks so much better, good job!

Thanks Farmerboy! When I went to hobby shop many years ago to buy this Intruder, I picked up the Kinetic offering but the shop owner told me to go for the Hobbyboss! I am thankful he did!

Wow that looks amazing. How did you make the canopy green?

You can buy 'clear' paints that dry see through, my personal favourites are from Tamiya

Sure, I have them! but how to apply just to the round front windows? With airbrush like normal keeping rest masked?

I've done dipping full canopy but not spraying.

it was easy. masked and sprayed the Tamiya clear green from the inside

before fixing it permanently to the fuselage.
