opus999
I finished this on Monday night! It was just a matter of a little final assembly, taking the masks off the canopy, scuffing up the walkways a bit and putting some exhaust on (I was trying to go light on the exhaust, figuring it would be cleaned fairly often, but I think I went too light.) I like how the landing lights turned out: I had to source an antenna mast from the spare parts. I'm also happy to see that the seats are clearly visible. The cockpit is clearly visible too, but I can't coax my camera into focusing on something other than the canopy frame... 🤔 Considering that the engine and cowl were one piece, I think it turned out OK Then there's the bottom... So all that's left now is an RFI!

For an old and simple kit, it turned out pretty good. No RFI yet, but I started something new if anyone is interested:
VT Red Sox Fan
Opuss—just saw this. The cockpit turned out amazing, you rescued the wings from molded markings AND then you painted some of the decals—great work behind an amazing finish—Well done! Paul J
Very nice. You did wonders on this old kit. Shame the display stand is on still for the underside shot.

I was surprised by my photos -- I completely missed sanding the leading edges by the wing root. I sanded them from about the landing gear outward, but completely missed the inner part! How does that happen??? 9 hours ago, Paul J said: Very nice. You did wonders on this old kit. Thanks! It was a fun one to do too. 9 hours ago, Paul J said: Shame the display stand is on still for the underside shot. Sorry about that. I was in a real hurry because it was past my bedtime... I'll put up a proper RFI soon.

2996 Victor
Just caught up with this build, DJ, and what a beauty she's turned out to be. These pre-War US schemes are gloriously colourful, and +1 for the cockpit details, superb scratch building there! All the best, Mark

Yeah, I loved that yellow and red against the silver, which is what drew me to this kit. I'm pretty happy with the interior, but boy was it a chore! 8 hours ago, AliGauld said: She's a beauty. I've used tiny dots of CA glue applied with a toothpick to replace raised rivets in the past; it works very well and if done sufficiently carefully will blend in with the kit rivets such that even you won't be able to find them. Anthony, do you think a fine bore syringe would work for rivet dots? Colin
heloman1
Neat build, I remember the kit from the early 1970's along with the Airfix kit. Colin
