Firedog... My latest obsession !! Tempest Mk II

Recommended Posts

Hello Dears !!

Here I am again....

The more I learn about the operation Firedog, the more I'm interested !!

Well, here's my almost first kit for this serie....

I say almost since it seem that Spitfire PR XIX to have been used there too....

N° 33 Sqdn in Kuala Lumpur in 1949

The planes received an Aluminium paint over but given the climate and the pace of the operations.

I must one more time thank my friend Tony O'T for sharing its impressive knowledge in British aviation....

You're sorely missed Tony !!

As usual, I used Alclad paints...

The kit is a good one, but the building has been marred with broken or lost parts, mainly by my faults...:wall::wall:

I still have to improve the way I represent chipping and peeling... But the original paint is still visible....

And now Gents.....

He who sow the wind will reap a Tempest.... Or 2....

Family pics ??

Up to you gents, Comments are welcome, bantering is mandatory....

I want to thank you all for the support !!

Stay safe and enjoy modelling !!

Very appealing, especially the shot in black and white 👍

Thanks WP,

When I got a good lighting, I try a BW one....

And today the sun was on the good mood !!

Well this ticks all the boxes for me! A well made interesting subject with an aluminium paint job, weathered and worn to the level you would have expected it to look like.

Very well done.

Pete

Thanks for the kind words Pete !

On the cowling, it look like the original plastic color popped up, but in fact, it is the ocean grey...

Fantastic Tempest there CC, love the peeling paint on the cowl. The two look great together as well

Thanks Russ !

It also show the contrast between a Tempest based in Germany, patrolling the iron curtain and the other one fighting in tropical area in a not so cold war....

Thanks for the support !!

Next Tempest will be a WWII one, I promised !!

Sincerely.

Your Firedog Tempest is a beaut CC, just the right amount of weathering/gunge for a hard worked aircraft in the tropics, it looks good with the V, a good looking pair. :)

Steve.

Thanks steve !

I'm glad that you appreciate ! ☺️

Love the peeling paint on the engine cowling! Looks like the flame decal you see on motorcycles!  This looks FEARSOME! I wouldn't like to be up against one of these! Awesome job!:goodjob:

Thank you Mark !!

Yup, now I can't see it otherwise..... A customized Tempest...:rofl2:

But I tried to reproduce what I saw on pics of the time being

An understandable obsession, great looking models.

Thanks Mike !!

The one place where one can see an helicopter and a jet bomber together with Spitfire and Tempest.....

I'll dig a bit more about this operation....

If I can find one a -7 would be my 1st choice, If not a -4/4B.

And wow again!!!! Utterly beautiful. Initially while you were working on it I thought the cowl ware was a bit much, but how wrong I was. What an absolute stunner.

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Bravo my friend.
