vaoinas
Very nice work on this one, Kevin. I guess, there's not much of those Trump Titanics that has been converted to Britannics so far. The paintjob is great and I guess some weathering will make it even better at the end. The thing that I noticed on your photo is that the middle cross actually seems to be larger than the fore and aft ones.

The thing that I noticed on your photo is that the middle cross actually seems to be larger than the fore and aft ones. good morning @vaoinas the build has been off the table for the last week, as i have been insulating my mancave, its basically a 3 sided laog cabin bolted to the side of our property, and with the fuel/cost of living we needed to try and keep it warmer, and have done so with great success, should be back today, if the walls are dry yes the cross in the middle should be larger there are a few goups on Facebook that i follow and post to that cover the class of ships, and a cople of companies are now getting around to variation of class upgrades, Minibrass springs to mind HMHS Britannic 1:200 - Frederic Briere (minibrass.com) there will be wethering, but a lot of it tends to be from me handling it far more than nececcary (although the handling of this build has reducuded greatly due to the stand being fitted right at the start and the the war not mentioned
Kevin Aris
a lot has gone on in the last week, i have been rebuilding my mancave, but here are thje last few phots taken Making up bits from fwd to aft and placing them into position prior to painting, the fwd well deck cranes were fun Putin will get the blame for this, but it needed to be done, my mancave is now a space where the wife can join me during the winter months to save heating more of the house than necessary. by man cave is basically a 3-sided log cabin bolted to the side of the house, and what ever we did to it it was still just a shed in the garden, and in the winter it gets quite cold in there, well not so much now all the walls have now been sealed, lined, papered and painted, and what a difference it has made, no more draughts, in fact it is retaining the heat and spreading into the house 2009 2011 new windows and doors 2014 pitched roof added 2018 electrics this week

Kevin Aris
good evening everyone taken a couple of days to sort myself out and get back into the build, finding everything is the issue i have started to fill the portholes in with PVA glue, a process that is going to take a while, but the ones that worked about 9/10 are ok and give me the result i wanted, just 1000's to go i am now going to work from front to back and the forecastle has some attention now, it looks ok, but the railings are so fine, they will have to wait the foremast is made up, but will be secured later the steam winches and other bits are still to be painted the forward well deck is next Edited October 11, 2022 by Kevin Aris

ArnoldAmbrose
Gidday Kevin, she's looking very good. Will you have a young walking-wounded soldier in the bows, holding a young nurse with her arms outstretched pretending to fly? Or have I got the wrong ship/movie? 🙂 They were certainly great looking ships. Regards, Jeff.

Kevin Aris
good morning, everyone thank you so very much for comments and likes day ? forward well deck i made the decision to leave the forecastle for now as there was the risk of something being damaged, the railings are quite fragile this is how the forward well deck looks as off last night i still have to place vents, bollards, ladders, and possibly change the steam winches on top of the raised hatchway from black to white
Kevin Aris
good evening everyone thank you for comments and likes after a couple of days in the forward well deck i have gone up to the funnel deck, this is the section i added the play room to several weeks ago, windows and doors added.it looks ok the KA MK1 upgrade set adds many pumps and vents to the model, but the Britannic is very different to where they are situated, creating a lot of head scratching, so i am putting everything in the right place as if it was Titanic and then sort it out from there the kit play room added with windows and doors

Kevin Aris
good morning everyone thank you for comments and likes its been a strange couple of weeks, with real life getting in the way, only doing a bit here and there, but it all kind of fell into place today, here she is as off tonight after welldeck made stronger upper structures glued to the hull and wiring extended to light them quite a lot of work is required aft, extra cabins scratched for use by the medical staff after plank sheet on, primer used to stop light bleeding waterways, metal work and railings after raised deck with also raises the after steering position pretty well everything on the after deck is scratched, but i did take the two lifeboats of the kit as i need to purchase or obtain more the supports for the after steering positions is 2mm evergreen rod, other plastic mouldings are available, the white box on the stern is the morgue still very much wip

Kevin Aris
Good morning everyone Thank you for comments and likes after decks continued light bleed is still an issue on the after deck, i have managed to correct it in other places light bleed, is more of a major hemorrhage
Killingholme
In the past, when I've had issues with light bleed I've painted the inside of the parts with black hammerite paint. It is sufficiently thick and gloopy, almost like sealing the parts with tar! Will
Black Knight
In model railway buildings we used to line the inside with kitchen aluminium foil. Stopped the light coming through plastic but also made what came out windows brighter

Kevin Aris
good evening, everyone thank you for comments and likes After lifeboat rack well i am having to use the grey matter now, and possibly failing miserably without any plans, only a walkthrough i am having to interpret what i see, (not necessarily what there is to see, i have taken as few shots of the programme, and the 7 boats on each rack seem to be on at least 4 levels, mine are on three (please dont tell anyone) the racks are still slightly oversized, but too fragile to make them in scale, this has taken me two days and about 7 different versions, but for now they will do, if however the next set is better then i will come back to this for the redo shots from the walkthrough first failed version version 8 i think Edited October 27, 2022 by Kevin Aris
ArnoldAmbrose
Gidday Kevin, those lifeboat racks are something I've not seen before on ships. But I guess it makes sense considering her use as a hospital ship that she'd need more than her usual outfit for her patients. Well done with the scratch building of them. Regards, Jeff. The outfit of lifeboats were due to the loss of the Titanic, i think i have to make room for 44 boats compared to 16 This rack will be rebuilt again, but this time using I section plastic strips
