SprueMan
Hello! I ordered a Shapeways part, and it arrived bent. I am guessing they packaged the part before it was fully cured and it bent while curing. What is the best way for straightening it? I tried to bend it back, but it snaps back over time, and I tried to heat it using a hairdryer but it just does the same.
Niall
What type of material is the print? Shapeways are good at sending out replacements for parts damaged in transit or packing.
wellsprop
Depends on the material, some types of 3D printed material can be straightened by gently warming them in water, but many can't. I would expect any part from shapeways to be delivered as a correctly made part - I expect you would get a replacement.
SprueMan
Well, I ended up using brute force and then left it on a box that serves as a guide. It seems to keep its shape more or less
Andreas.R
The Fine Detail Plastic which I used still needs to be cured, and can be bent a little into the right shape. It happens due to design issues, the holding sprues are too thin! Regards Andreas
SprueMan
Bending did not work in the end. I broke it! 🤬 I will make an improved version and get them to make another one. With their bloody shipping costs.
