PatW
Basic curbside kit, steering front suspension flimsy, so added plastic square rod to stabilise. This phantom version could be used as a Rally Barge, carrying spares from stage end to stage end on a major WRC rally. OR In a similar roll carrying spares/sustenance for a Grand Tour Cycling Team on the Tour of France, Spain, Italy etc.
Vince1159
Great job Pat,some of those team cars on the TdF especially the Skoda's look fantastic...I've thought a couple of times of buying an estate and having a replica made...
PatW
Thanks Vince1159, yes I've had the same idea! I was looking at doing this but couldn't find the lettering..
Windy37
Same as @Vince1159 said ! Without reading your post, the pictures immediately reminded me of the Legacy estate cars Prodrive used as chase / management cars back in the 90s glory days . You've given me a great idea for a future build , Pat . Gary .
PatW
Thanks Windy37, yes I based these initially on the Prodrive service cars as they were just 20 miles from here.
galaxyg
Nice. I've seen this kit for sale and I do wonder at the naming "Hippo sleek".
PatW
Thanks galaxyg. I think the 'Hippo Sleek' relates to the Japanese tuning firm that modified the real car.
paulyoung666
Looks good , one point , not criticism just pointing out that you didn’t paint the surround of the rear window , any reason ?
Anteater
Ace. For rally modellers, the Prodrive management cars were the previous generation Legacy estate, available from Hasegawa.
Spiny
That doesn't look a bad little build. Quick one - do you have any decal softener because I think adding that to the decals would really help in getting rid of that silvering and really lift the end result. Yes, I'm no good at painting around the glass. I've started to run a black marker around the frames on the body but only recently. Yes I normally do that but other decals on the same sheet on another recent build laid down OK but trying decal softener destroyed the decals. Windy37
Apologies if I’m muscling in on your Post @PatW . This is the pen I use for window frames . From W H Smiths £4.99 for a 2 pack . Gary .
PatW
Thanks guys. I can't use a pen with such a pointed end as I would write all over the body with my shaky hands! This is the thing, canted at 45 degrees to the window opening..
