Post war Austers - what a minefield! But I have been working on a kit that allows a range of options to be built. This is an Aiglet or Alpha - a different cowl and smaller tail will make an Autocrat, a bigger tail and Lycoming cowl will make a Workmaster or a Beagle Husky.

Simply Marvellous!!!!!!! Can't  wait. But I do hope something is done with the decals as the ones in my Apache are giving me grief.  They wrinkle  even without decal solution and stay wrinkled when dry. Regardless, I will welcome these Auster kits warmly.

don't forget the Aiglet had a wingspan  of 32 feet for aerobatics, better roll rate. The Autocrat and Alpha had a wingspan of 36 feet.  The Aiglet and Alpha had Gipsy Major engines, the Autocrat Cirrus Minor. I hope VFR Models make the kit with a scale 36 foot wingspan ,can easily be shortened to 32 feet for an Aiglet.

I think it was the Aiglet Trainer which had the shorter wingspan to be aerobatic capable. According to my Air-Britain book the Aiglet was originally designed for agricultural use and was externally identical to the Alpha.

Hi Paul, Yes the J.1/B  Aiglet was like the Alpha(36 ft wingspan) As you say many were converted to crop-sprayers. The J.5/F was the shortened wingspan Aiglet Trainer, developed from the Autocar.

Excellent news - I've needed an Autocar for a while and a local aero club member just got a 1:1 Aiglet too.

Speaking of which, here's some inspiration for fellow future Auster modellers!
