Gidday Jon I think you're done terrific work with this the PE railings are very good and enhance the model greatly Regards Jeff . . . , , , (insert commas and stops where applicable 🙂)

Railings are a bit like rigging. A ship or boat looks “undressed” without them.

I hope you don’t mind, but I’ve stolen the above for my signature.

Gidday Jon, I'll take that as a compliment. 👍

And regarding railings and rigging, you're probably right. But I don't think delicate PE would survive my painting. Regards, Jeff.

Am I right in recalling you are a brush painter ?

You’d be surprised how tough PE is once it’s in place, and on the “sprue”. If I have to brush it, then I use two, sometimes three coats of 50/50 thinned paint.

Oh, I think you told me that before. I had saved the web address and then forgotten about it. My memory is... What was I saying?

Forgive me if you've already discussed this, and I've forgotten, but I've been reading a bit of her history on wikipedia. She might look a bit dull but certainly was effective.

"USS England (DE-635), a Buckley-class destroyer escort of the United States Navy, was named in honor of Ensign John C. England (1920–1941), who was killed in action aboard the battleship Oklahoma during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941. Her sinking of six Japanese submarines in twelve days is a feat unparalleled in the history of antisubmarine warfare."

Everything has slowed down at the mo'.

I'm waiting for the brass masts I ordered to arrive. So far the Great God Post Office, all praise his incompetence for it knows no bounds, has had said masts 'out for delivery' for the past two days. .

So, I've put the cutter together ready to hang from its davits.

I will now move onto the deck railings, and then, hopefully the mast and rigging.

it's all covids fault apparently

I think our kids, kids, kids, for years to come, will use the phrase ‘due to the Covid pandemic’ for all bad service.

Finally, the masts have arrived.

So now I just have to make a copy of the plastic mast. Nothing like making work for oneself.

Rather than make all the 'sticky out bits' from brass wire, I'm thinking I'll cut off the plastic ones and attach them to the brass mast.

Except the small searchlight platform, that is a PE part as is the top platform.
