Hi Jon,

will you replace main guns? Plastic part will look somewhat clumsy comparing all these soooper-doooper full-metall jewellery. Black Cat do these guns.

Best regards,

Michal.

Michal.

Here are the instructions for making.........

The Quad AA gun

p?i=a8342160bbf804f235810805b880080a

The 20mm Oerlikon, there are ten of these.

p?i=a0584b575b8aa37ec2526bf458be0924

And the 3"

The barrel replacement is not a problem, but the Black Cat 3" is far more detailed.

p?i=b499f006d2c23df4d6d4a8ae34d8a320

Now, I know, you know, how big these guns are in 1/350, so to bend the PE parts to shape and build these guns is a task TOO far.

Even gluing them together will be a challenge.

So in answer to your question. YES I will be replacing these with Black Cat 3D guns. I will also replace the K Guns, Hedgehog and Torpedo Tubes with Black Cat parts.

The first of six ladders to be fixed to the bridge, waits to be bent.

p?i=01e777a4ac88d13cf3bb606a285fac8e

Both sides bent and ladder in position.

p?i=293ef8c7f7729228a7a3ddaa0312d6ef

Things are getting silly now, this a hand rail.

One of four.

p?i=76f45b5c98f9b278b20115174ba396db

And in place along with all the ladders.

p?i=b51464c494fe3419b9f24c534d7aae70

I've yet to fit a frame to the sides of this structure (where those two vertical lines are, to the left of the ladder) which will carry a raft.

But, being as it is SO delicate and waiting until I've finished building the bridge structure.

Bit lazy today, have been preparing to spray some of the superstructure before it goes onto the deck, which will be added to the hull before.

I've also done a bit more bending and sticking.

That looks like something out of Fireball XL5!

The etch-work is fabulous by the way!

Actually, the PE instructions are quite good with clear expand drawings.

Five Star? Just be wary that on mine - Fletcher - there were many parts not listed in the manual but I could see were needed from the pictures...otherwise loved the detail. Your instructions seem much better though.

This is also In my stash for a Captain class conversion, so very interested to see this progress.

You’re right, and sometimes even the picture is not very clear. So a bit of guess work will be involved.

I'm back from my trip to France. Interesting places visited, some good food and wine consumed and many miles traveled.

Don't you just love this 3D printing, well done Black Cat.

Todays progress.

After figuring out where I'd left off, I've added the PE sides to the superstructure and some doors to one side.

It also appears that prior to painting, I'm going got have to make and fit the DC Arbors and of course some ladders.

Ridiculously tiny pieces. What's next Jon, drilling out the barrels?

Yes they are, and probably not.

You wait till you see the DC arbors..........

I've been fiddling away with lots of little bits of brass, these are the three components for the DC Arbors.

Two pieces of PE and a short (2mm) piece of 0.5mm brass wire.

p?i=1047514e71c47dd4dd27cd3dd653a046

Which go on here like this.

p?i=49d988c85996ba350506125f7d90867d

Not my finest work with PE, but they are a bit small and seen from a distance they do improve, honest.

There should be about double the amount, but these 8 were struggle enough for me. So my apologies to the purists amongst you, but this is the limit of my skill.

Anyway, once painted they won't be so obviously amateur.

Also fitted here are the handrails, ladders, doors, and fire hose. Not sure what the grey plastic bit is.

Just got to do the other side, then I can paint the whole thing and fix it to the deck.

Maybe so but it's a gazillion miles past mine. Glued or soldered, as far as I am concerned that's simply impossible. Well done, well done indeed.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DEPTH CHARGE!!!
DC = depth charge.
Goddit!!
Gidday Jon, I'm not sure either. I was wondering if that's a rack of timber for damage control, shoring?
       Those DC arbors are GREAT. As for there being too few, who's to say the others weren't thrown over the side, along with their DCs (depth charges Bertie 😁) at some pesky IJN submarine?
Regards, Jeff.
