What a weekend!!!!

But there was modelling before Yelford so let’s go back a bit eh. Cue rewind noises. ‘Swiswisilliswizzzzwizzxwizzle. Scree. Kerplunk.’

The sponge masking come out to reveal ma wheel wells.

52497800963_b67a033851_b.jpg

by the way I can’t remember if I said that I’d fixed the roundels by removing and putting new ones on but I did. And now we’re havin have no yellow band. 🤗

The legs got assembled and glued using the well points as a jig.

52497799653_d363b767c3_b.jpg

Lovely. ☺️

So here we are at this point again.
we all know this point right kids.

52497524809_800c013e43_b.jpg

The last big bit that needed sticking wiv glue was the nose. I have never come across such a thing as this.

52497719515_91ebea5447_b.jpg

To be fair it all fitted rather well.

52497719445_870f8ac94e_b.jpg

And then the pointy bit and a quick dry fit with some standard aeroplane whoosh noises. 😆

52497800908_163ff7336d_b.jpg

So for the final paint, silver bits first.

legs.

52496758722_591e6454c3_b.jpg

Wheels.

52497800788_d9a3d8f102_b.jpg

I particularly like the little yellow end bits.

52497720125_27dc100e49_b.jpg

The cannons have a tricky bit that needs painting yellow brown and green.

52497800818_a97b9f37c8_b.jpg

The exhausts.

52497800258_2c69aaf7b2_b.jpg

This was where I called it a day because the time was coming. The time for my first ever Telford. 😃

There it is look. Just at the end of that yellow brick road.  🌈

52497719640_aff19262e7_b.jpg

why on earth have I never been here before? Lots of models to look and and even more stuff to buy!! Almost too much stuff, is there such a thing as “kit blind”?

as well as stuff I meet up with a few of the Britmodellers.

Gah!! I didn’t know you were there. Next time. And no they’re the kit pins. They were pretty good. 😀

Thanks for the super pics. Lovely to meet up. My best ever SMW!

Nice work on the Firefly too - I guess you can choose your own blade pitch with that prop assembly.

Regards,

Adrian

To be fair the pics were Ian’s  but thanks regardless. 👀 it was a wonderful time indeed, I just wish I could have stayed a little longer.  As for the prop assembly it has one flat edge that lines up so it’s kinda set. Easy to fit though.

Great catching up with everyone, I didn't realise that was Adrian as never got the chance to speak to him. Always great to see fellow modellers again and put names and faces to forum names!

The Firefly is looking the part now :)

Telford the occasion was as it usually is I have to say, tremendous.

I understand that the fiscally unaware can lose their heads and run riot, but as usual I spent more on, er, hospitality stuff.

I did manage to lose four anna huff quid on sanding sticks, similar on next year's Mandatory Model Room Calendar from our friends at Airfix.

So it is amazing that I drove home from Telford with a cargo container load of helicopter models, courtesy of @HAMP man, another of the BM stars I so enjoyed the weekend with.

👍

Gutted I missed talking to Woody bah!

Jonny, you realise posting my fizzog on the forum brings seven years of bad luck.

Just sorting out packing Best Beloved and the rest of our baggage, and then we head back to Kent. It’s been a great weekend, which I hope we can do again sometime. Oh, and the Firefly is looking spiffy, too. :like:

Nice progress on the Firefly, Johnny. Was great to meet you and all the other BM folks, and one heck of a show. Definitely need to make the trip again next year, and plan for the whole weekend!

Good progress Johnny, really looks the part and is coming together beautifully. As previously noted, it was wonderful to meet new faces and catch up with a lot of old friends over the weekend, especially in light of the difficulties of recent years. I didn't feel the urge to purchase much this year since, to be honest, I'm more interested in the social side of the show, which certainly didn't disappoint. I received un ungodly amount of ear-bashing about reviving the big Bucc, so it would be impolite to not get the thing back on the bench asap.

There you go Steve...see, no rabbit ears (or have they been photoshopped out?)

Maybe I’ve got some historical, deep-rooted rabbit-ear issues that need addressing, Andy?

After all, we’re all grown up and mature on BM ain’t we?  Just gotta read some threads to see that…  :D

Little? I saw the thing and I think ‘Miniscule’ is more accurate.  Don’t know how @AdrianMF does it tbh.  Magic?

Good luck and looking forward to the WIP :D (You don’t think that recommendation was a sort of Adrian joke do you Johnny?)

Question..... Is there a BM table at Telford??

Seems to me that there should be. Just sayin'......

(that was weird.... I tried typing OUGHTA, and it just looks like a mistake 😛it is a word though, in a slangy way, right??)

Anyway, the plane is looking great in every detail. No surprise there then.

As always, superlative modelling on your part, Johnny, but also thank you for the photos of all the Britmodellers. It's been three years since I've seen any of them, and I was surprised at how emotional* it made me feel. Well, I am only an American, after all.

* But not tired! Not during working hours.

Interesting question which @Courageous , myself and John, the IPMS treasurer, discussed over beers last night ..... It might have been the early hours of this morning come to think of it ..

🥳

The answer is a bit complex to explain here and the whole thing would need "managing" by a handfull of BM members. Possibly worth exploring more with the exec committee for those really keen on the idea?

Great to meet you Johnny and all the others I met on Saturday and Sunday.
