There is an interesting image of the Stb cockpit side kindly posted by Grey Beema on my thread if it helps, I will try and find the page number.

Chris

Edit it is on page one, scroll down passed the flycatcher. I have a new phone and can't seem to be able to link the thread at the moment, sorry.

Gotta love a Firefly - I have the Special Hobby Mk.1 & 4 kits in my stash, and a Wolfpack (I think) wing fold for the Mk.1 (cos it's there).  One of Fairey's best efforts, and a fine-looking aircraft.

Johnny mate, just thought I'd pop in with one of those boring little asides wot I do.

The picture of the box in the back as moulded seems to have a thick bar moulded across it in the same place the photo shows the shadow of the window frame.

That control column, I like it.

Its very funny .

I have fancied a fire fly for some time. I’m glad it’s eventually happening.

1/24th Hurricane.  Stunning shapewise.   Never understood why they didn't  scale it down to 32nd, 48th 72nd...  Only main complaint, recessed rivets.

But the trail of shame is long otherwise.

sad but true, back in 2010, a trumpeter employee, Song, joined, and posted a thread on their forthcoming Spitfeful/Seafang with CAD shots, 7 page thread, lost of help and critique offered for free.  None take on board.

see here https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/55621-spiteful-seafang-master/

I think Song ended up with Kittyhawk.

The decals are hilariously bad, all the roundels are wrong proportions and the red is wrong for most of them.

compare

52305439397_0a8ea97c3a_b.jpg

277, note the too small roundels, and the 2 is wrong at least...

Firefly277+with+solid+head+rockets.jpg

Just using the right roundels will really help the appearance of the finished model.

They are reputed to build well.

HTH and enjoy the build

Ok thanks for this. I guess I can tackle it first. As for the red, shade, shape or both? They do look bright but will that matter too much? I do have donor decals do I’ll post up later with likely candidates..

Both.

ALL the roundel decals supplied are basically worthless,  I already posted the photo of the BPF plane, and you only have too look at the standard C1 roundel to see the proportions are wrong.   From what I know the overall shape is not too bad,  put the right markings on it and it will look fine, put the crap ones on and it won't.

Given the other 1/48th Firefly kits usually had multiple decals options, eg

122272-10518-pristine.jpg

then there are decals out there in spares box land.   If you really want to be proactive, have a search on here for folks who built a 1/48th Firefly and ask if they have any leftovers.

If you want something eye-catchingly different,  bear in mind this boxing

is it just me of does this look like something out of TinTin?     I suspect this might tickle your fancy?

I don't recall ever seeing a Firefly in invasion stripes, as in D-Day,  what you might be thinking of this

228318-15526-71-pristine.jpg

which are the Korean War ID stripes. (to ID British planes to the Americans...)   Note this is a FR.1 with a radar pod.

These have the later D type post WW2 markings

Good evening Britmodellers.

Some good progress today even though it’s been a busy work day.

First off I have some decals spare.

@Troy Smith do they look ok?

28 replaced for 33

52311205169_ac369a125d_b.jpg

25 replaced for 2 with 19 dots added.

52311224075_0d921bf04c_b.jpg

They look a bit bigger due to perspective but they’re about the same.

I can hobble together some tail flashes too.  🤞🤞🤞🤞

I built this based on one of the office walls. I still have to add a pole / ratchet thing but will do that with rod.

52311205314_847ccfba6d_b.jpg

Not totally accurate and a bit over egged it will me small and needs all the help it can get.

Thirty mins later.

52311092268_a200547e70_b.jpg

🤩🤩🤩

let’s see if it’s the right size?

52311205199_4804509da1_b.jpg

Yay! Getting better at this.❤️
a quick dry fit shows it will be better than the kit part. Not perfectly accurate but good enough.

52311092243_d16d62f28b_b.jpg

Pads, Pedals, the other wall,  few bottles, compass and a sight and we’re away. 🤪

Thanks for all the help with this already. You’re all amazing.
