JWM
Hi, Within Dornier 17 family STBG I was constructing three variants of Do 17: K, Z and P. Two first are already presented on RFI since their build time fit within STGB limits. The last one, the Do 17 P, I did not managed to finish on time, I did it now. Here is the whole build thread: In RS kit there are nice options of schemes, however I wanted to do something not from the box. I have found a profile for machine 6M+GK. This was the Dornier Do 17 P-1 (No 4153, produced by Blohm und Voss) belonging to Fernaufklärungsgruppe 11, which crashed at Filipovici in April 1941. Photos of the real thing and details of scheme were discussed here: I appreciate very much all suggestions and explanations given there, which helped me a lot. Below are photos of just finished model: Some family photos - with Airfix Do 17 E from SCW, I build about 1976, few years ago made some repair And the whole set of mine Do17/215 family. The three (Ka3, Z and P) build now and Do 215 (scratch conversion from Monogram Do 17 Z, about 20 years old) and mentioned Do 17 E: Comments welcome Regards Jerzy-Wojtek #20/2022
Smudge
Very nice. The Airfix kit stands up well next to the newer kit.

Of course, I consider Do 17 E/F one of the best kits of Airfix from 1970s, it is still worth each penny you pay for it! 31 minutes ago, Wulfman said: Great collection and project, excellent modelling ! Wulfman Many thanks! Dorniers 17/215 as for today are completed in my collection, I do not plan to do any other so far. BTW - regarding Do 217 I still need Do 217 E (I have K-2 and N-2). Hope that Italeri will re-issue it soon. Regards J-W

That is very interesting. I have one in my 'stash'. I wasn't sure how well it would make up. I will now keep it

The inside is a bit empty in Airfix Do 17 E as well as the wheels gondolas there - especially if you compare with their crowded by details Do 17 Z. Graham Boak
Sign of the times: but having had considerable problems with the cramped interior of the Airfix Z (now sorted) I look on blanker cockpits with more sympathy. Especially when there is much less visibility of what is/not included on the E/F than on the Z. Somewhere there is a happy medium, but the modern trend seems to be moving away from this, and forgetting not just the older (clumsier) modeller but also the younger ones. Ok, grump grump, but I otherwise might have finished that Z - or at least gone further forward with it. I started a Frog Z at the same time, and that is basically assembled with first paint coats on. I had to stop to allow the Airfix kit to catch up, which was of course the kiss of death on both. I shall return, said with slightly less conviction that McArthur.

I think that it could be done a bit better...BTW- how the old Frog stand shapes camparison with Airfix? The Monogram has to large wing chord first of all... This is an example of something I like very much collecting models - different variants of the same basic construction, which illustrates a development or adaptation to different requirements... Bigglesof266
Appreciate your subject obsession. Often overlooked in favour of the more familiar to most Heinkel and Junkers. Thanks for sharing. Very nice.
