It`s nice to know that there are some companies out there that provide a great service.

You may have noticed I'm a bit of a fan.

If only I used enamels I'd be very keen to try them...

I know that enamels aren't for everybody but they are great paints and I'm lucky that they are produced just up the road a bit. :D

Oh, I had so many plans for today but stuff and things happened.

I did manage to get a coat of Light Slate grey on the lower wings.

I then added a drop of Middle Stone to lighten the ribbing a tad.

Not certain you can see anything in the photos but here it is anyway.

I thought I was going to get the Dark Slate Grey on the top wings today but when I looked at them to mask them up I had painted the Sky on the wrong side.

So, out with the Sky and the first coat was laid down.

There are a few almost pinholes in the paint which will need rubbed down before a second coat.

I'm thinking that the wings got hit by some raindrops on the way back from the garage.

Thanks for looking,

Alistair

Ach! One of those! That feeling of leaving the bench knowing you've made good progress, then returning the next day to find the progress was in the wrong direction! Getting there though!

Andy

Thanks Andy,

It's entirely down to incompetence on my part although others have seen the pics and no-one picked up on it.

Therefore, in the spirit of blaming someone else for my own error, you all failed the test. :D

Second Sky coat has been sprayed.

I'm happy with that.

I should manage to get the Dark Slate Grey on the top later.

Dark Slate Grey sprayed and then after a couple of drops of Middle Stone were added I lightened the ribbing.

It's still drying so I'll see if I need to give it another coat when it's dry then redo the ribbing.

I'll just check... Yep your good this time 😉,  nice paint Alistair.

Chris

Thanks Chris,

I'll let it settle overnight and check it in daylight to see if it needs a thinned coat over the top just to blend it a tad.

Thanks Mark that is very kind of you.

I wasn't happy with the Dark Slate Grey so a highly thinned mix was misted over a couple of times.

Then the centre top part got some paint.

I'll try to get some Dark Sea Grey and Extra Dark Sea Grey done tomorrow.

Thanks for looking,

Very nice Alistair. What kind of thinning ratio do you use for these light passes with colourcoats? I'm still finding I don't have a particularly good 'feel' for them yet.

I feel deeply and irrevocably traumatised by that out-of-alignment rib leading to the aileron actuator.

Thanks very much Andy,

For the light misty passes it's about 80 thinner to 20 paint.

Keep moving and do it as many times as it takes until you get the effect you want.

Also don't engage full spray just at the biting point is all you need.

It does rather catch the eye, doesn't it.
