It is smaller than the Sunderland but only a smidgeon. :D

And with a Stirling and Sunderland under the belt this year the storage is definitely taking a hammering!

Got the guts up to do the PE on the tail.

And also a couple of plastic bits with glue.

I'm leaving that lot to cure properly before I attempt any more.

My hands are still shaking a bit.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Looking good.  The PE will hold, I’m quite sure of that.  I like the level of detail! I’d rather deal with that than have to work in 72nd scale!

Thanks Mark,

You do realise that if it all goes wibbly through operator error I will be able to blame somebody else yet again. :D

Cheers,

Alistair

Last bits for tonight,

DEwzrVB.jpg

I was going to do the last PE on the tail but it took me so long to get this bit off and fitted that I'll leave the other one until tomorrow.

It's not bent it's just the way the light is hitting it.

Once it's well and truly solid tomorrow I'll sand off the burrs and straighten the small kinks.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair

Closer and closer to paint Alistair, looking really good.  I like the PE details, we’re they in the kit or aftermarket?

I’ll take that bet. 👍

This Trumpeter kit seems very Tamiya-like in its engineering, I wonder if they had one of those knocking around in their design shop at the time they were designing their Swordfish? 😆

Great to see some more progress Alistair,  good luck with the PE. Slow and steady and you'll be fine.

I have heard that said about the similarities too😉

The PE is a mix.

The brass coloured stuff is Eduard and the steel coloured is the kit PE.

They are very similar. Isn't synchronicity a strange thing. ;)

Purely coincidental you understand.

All looks well Alistair.

The P.E. can be a pain but worth it at times though.

Stay safe.

Simon.

Thanks Simon,

The Eduard stuff is OK but the Trumpeter supplied stuff if the steel kind and is an absolute nightmare to get off the sprue.

I'll get there though.

Hi Alistair,

Will watch this build with interest. Always wondered what the Trumpy Swordfish was like to build. Now I can sit back and enjoy the process in your capable hands

Kevin

Thanks and welcome aboard.

Although "capable " that may be a little optimistic. :D

Cheers,

Alistair

The last, I think, bits of PE on the fuselage.

6ogGE9W.jpg

After that was done I made a start on the engine.

This bit has been scaring me, not because of the PE but just the delicacy of the pieces and the need to get them right as this is such a huge part of the overall look.

The rest of the bits.

I was hoping to get primer and paint on these tonight but as you can see there are ejection ports to be dealt with.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair

Looking good Alistair,  great work,  the ring which is top left in your last image was only on post war machines, thankfully Mark advised me before it had set for good on mine.

Chris

Thanks for that Chris,

The Eduard PE instructions tell you to cut the ring and supports off but not why.

I was going to do it and then had a look at some pics and it appeared to be there on them.

I'll get it trimmed off tomorrow.

Cheers,

Alistair

Thanks Chris,

I started to put it together, had to respray one of the bits and looked at the clock to find 2 hours had gone by.
