Oooooo great to see the voclpit coming together Alistair,  looks good.

It certainly does  the newer Airfix kit is amazing .  The Trumpeter tooling looks very similar to the Tamiya 48th scale tooling so far.

Chris

Thanks Chris,

The sprues are also extremely reminiscent of the Tamiya ones.

I believe there were accusations that Trumpeter had just upscaled the Tamiya one when it came out. :worry: Allegedly.

That looks a terrific build! You'll have plenty of fun with it; my only question is, why do they supply all those clear parts?

Thanks very much.

I can only think that it was to show off the internals.

Not for me.

Thanks Chris,

Don't get too excited about the brush.

Alistair,

Looking good - there's a bit more detail in there than 1:72, and you're making it look lovely!

Thanks Roger,

It's still all a bit intimidating. So many detailed bits.

  • 2 weeks later...

Some of the bits and bobs got some paint and a bit of photo etch.

It all needs a light was to bring out the finer details and I'll need to fit the photo etch harness in the second position.

Thanks for looking,

More than just a bit of paint, the detailing in that cockpit is superb! What a shame it will mostly be hidden, maybe you should use the transparent fuselage sides after all?

Craig.

Thanks Craig, too kind.

I thought about using one half of the transparent bits and masking up to show bits through it but I've gone off the idea as i want it to vaguely resemble a Swordfish. :D

Cracking start Alistair. I imagine she's a bit of a shelf-hog......or will you be folding the wings??

Q

Thanks Q,

I do like a wingfold but it hides so much of the swordfish I'll be going for the Full Bhuna.

Well, you got badgered into doing a "Stringbag" mate.

Lovely stuff.

I will watch from afar as they say.

Stay safe.

Some dirtying up done.

The rolled tarp got a coat of Buff followed by a misting of a Buff/Desert Yellow mix and then a Burnt Sienna Oil Wash.

And then the Radio got a bit of colour added. Not accurate but gives a wee bit of interest.

I wasn't planning on anything else for this today but this sort of happened.

There is still a wee bit more work required in the cockpit area and I'll get on with that tomorrow hopefully.

That'll be it for today as I'm away to get ready for work.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair

Fine work on the old S.Bag.

I like the finish on the "Dickie" seat behind the pilot, great job.

A bit of "Poetic" Licence does the job here and there Alistair.

Stay safe.

Simon.

Thanks Simon,

I think it gives that lower part of the gunners compartment a little more colour.

Alistair
