Airfix B17G - £5 with Breakfast 490th BG

Recommended Posts

Another excellent build Neil, always liked the B17, mainly because I like that they can be depicted in a heavy weathered use and some had colourful markings, I’m also intrigued to what paint you used for the silver.

Did the model cost you £5

Stunning! Lovely, natural looking finish.

I regularly drive past Eye and the base is one of the more complete - lots of industry and the like going on there and many of the original runways and hangars remain.

That is a real beauty Neil, I love the natural metal finish. Every model you build seems to go to another level!

(£5 with breakfast, I read somewhere what that meant, Naughty!

Cheers

Fantastic work Woody! I plan to finish my kit in this scheme when I get around to building it.

As as others have said above I also drive past Eye now and then and it is still fairly complete.

Love the nmf, which paints did you use?

Wot Tom said.

I’ll stick my neck out and say you worked your usual magic with pastels.

Another stunner. Do I detect a theme going on here?🙂

Ha ha, coincidence, but yes, definitely a silver theme!

I'd love to get over that neck of the woods more Tom, really enjoyed our recent trip to meet Jim with some of the other crew.

Excellent paint job - as asked above - I am curious as to what you used.

I believe you're right John, something about the local attractions!

Thanks for the kind comments guys. I forgot to add that the silver is MRP Super silver with a few minor shade changes by adding a few drops of other colours into it. The panel lines are emphasised with a panel wash and some soft pastel worked into the areas that got dirtied most. I think I may of used a bit of oil paint too.

Cheers
