StuG. Ausf A (late).

Recommended Posts

Good afternoon. Here are a few more photos of my latest finish from my ongoing project. A Dragon Stug A based on some well known photos of an LAH vehicle (No.5) in Ukraine.

An old kit updated with some Voyager, T-Rex tracks, Star decals and other extras, including a very nice cable from Eureka. I've done it slightly battered and muddy/dusty using techniques I have been learning over the last few months.

Nice work. Convincing mud effects - wish I was brave enough to attempt that!

Thanks Simon. I have to thank everyone's favourite uncle, Night Shift for that. Some of his tips on his Tiger Gruppe Fuhrmann videos are well worth watching. It's quite good fun to do too. Although it can get everything messy.😀

Superb mate, you really are knocking them out of the park at the moment,  brilliant.

I shan't repeat the comments from the WIP suffice to say, great work.

Uncle Nightshift and Mike R, Panzermeister etc have a lot to answer for!

Great work

It wasn't intentional at first but I have slowed down my modelling and try to take more time over each one. The results are getting better but my stash isn't budging. 😀

Never mind the stash, you're on a roll here. Excellent work - keep it up and maybe I'll learn a little bit as to how to achieve superlative results like this!

Superb build.

The subtle weathering and the shading of the Panzer gray came out very well.

The aftermarket tracks are also an improvement over the kit parts.

Thank you all for the kind comments and like. It is genuinely appreciated.👏👍

As to the grey, although it's not everyone's favourite, I still use Tamiya's German Grey, de-blued with some brown (52 or 72) over a base of Rubber or NATO Black. Highlights are a concoction of lighter greys off the paint shelf. Done with the airbrush and at the very end some of the panels, lines and structure are lightened or darkened with pastels.

The weathering is superb, subtle and dusty. Also really like your panel modulation, the shading and highlights. All your look wonderfully smooth in their finish. Something I really admire and something I’m not sure I can pull off myself. Anyway keep it up.

All the best,

Paul

Thanks for the very kind words. I think what really helped me with my paint finishes was doing the odd car and bike model. They help honing airbrush control and paint mixing as the finish has to be super smooth or it stands out. AFVs are a little more forgiving. Cheers.
