Battleship Bretagne - France - 3D realisation - 1:200 scale

Recommended Posts

Hi Pascal, sorry for spamming your notifications with 'likes' but this must be one of the most entertaining and instructive threads on the entire site!

I originally thought it was just going to be a 3D realisation, which was impressive enough, but when the ship began to physically take shape, I couldn't help thinking this was just a revolution. I commend you on your skills and attention to detail, it is a superb project you have created from scratch.

@Thom216, Tks Thom, I only had this one sitting down to give the scale, at the moment I have to do others sitting in other postures. 🤔

@Alan P Thanks Alan, It gives me courage to continue this pharaonic project.

@Steve " Where's the stoker?"

It snores at the bottom of the engine room.. 🙄

I redesigned the cover, the result is much more convincing, after the advice of a very competent friend.

Hello Pascal

How about leaving off the cover/roof, all the wonderfull details of the boiler and the steam-engine now become invisible?

I think the hole for the funnel will be problematic to print anyway.

Regards

Andreas

There are at least two such boats on the battleship. I think I'm covering one, not the other.

For the print, it should do. If not, it will be done in japanese paper or equivalent. (Dirk)

This nice little boat is now finished, I simplified it a bit because of the size ( 25 mm long ), I'm going to print it now and go to the 13 mts one, there is only one, it is placed at the top on the port side on the platform, it has a special place because it is very long.

Youyou printed with 20 micron layers with Photon Ultra.

Putting in place the canvas of the 13 mts boat, as I only have the plan of the 10 mts boat, I have very slightly lowered the vertical scale of the hull.

Merci!

The hull of this big 13 mts boat is almost finished.

I'll see if I place the missing ribs or not, it's going to take some time, but it would be nicer and fairer.

I'll be able to furnish the interior now.

Tks Stuart!  😜

I had time tonight to find the right method with the drawing program to create fake/real frames in addition to the ones used for the hull drawing, without spending hours, given the number.

With all the exposed ribs, it looks much better of course.

It needs to be tweaked a bit.

More tomorrow.

Excellent work as ever Pascal.

Maybe it doesn't matter at this scale, but are all these boats carvel, I would expect all but the large power boats to be clinker-built?

Really, what I guess I'm saying is that I'd love to see how you would draw a clinker hull.  I've given it a lot of thought, for moulds.  My hulls are all paper mache but I need to build a buck and printing is an interesting idea for that.  It could include the ribs and make a quick and easy high definition inner shell

Cheers

Steve

This is mindboggling project, in comparably very short time, and every word of praise is well deserved 👏👏👏...   Cant wait to see her done.

Btw, how do you deal with dust accumulation during construction?
