I plan to edit the J-20 and I look for the photos in the pilot's seat and I have a feeling that it looks very close to the US Marin Becker. Also no many reference on the backside of the seat, any help? thank you.

Sorry, Do you mean the UK Martin Baker Seat?  Have a look at the Martin Baker Mk 16  it may be what you are looking for?

Why do we always presume that anything modern coming from Russia or China naturally has to be a copy of something a western company builds?Russia and China do not need to copy from us anymore. It is more possible that it will be the other way round. It is the same with India that is considered by us as a third world country but we all know where some of the best computer specialists come from.

You are my heros, thanks a lot for your precious link. As I'm working on this aircraft and so many details are lacking or just not accurate, just like the cockpit really too wide and the dashboard is fanciful also the pilot's seat. I just finished the design of the WS-10C which will equip all J-20 versions soon. The PL-10 done and the ladder too.

The print looks fine for me, I use to print the other parts next.

Any cockpit reference pictures? we can see some picture of the dashboard but nothing for the rest.

So you think the J-20 is so popular? That could be a great idea, I'll need to fix some mistake with the 3d print, and I Begin the HTY-5BE seat modeling, special thank to Steve McArthur for his big help. The J-20 isn't a commun subject and the Trumpeter's J-20 was so poor details for that so big aircraft. Ok we'll make justice for that now :)

Preparing the seat and this is the way to reach the different volume and angle before opening any 3s software, as we don't have any accurate blueprint for the object, so I begin with a sketch.

Well,  simple...human evolution and ingenuity.

Any thing more to be write here will be unfair against some human people.

I think that when it comes to a requirement to solve a very specific engineering problem, form follows function to a large degree and hence the same solutions tend to look the same, in this case the ejection seat.  Ejection seats may look different to the untgrfained eye but most work in a similar fashion ands have common features. In this case. although the head box looks very different to a K-36, but the seat seems to be using the same  Russian design philosophy regarding the drogue chute system and appears to have adopted the twin telescopic drogue chute  canisters, one of which is visible over the pilot's leftshoulder which is very reminiscent of the K-36..

As for the spying allegation, I gueass we all have our own opinion although it is much easier to vercome an engineering problem if you see how someone else solved it first. I think it was Mikoyan who once stated that 'Where would Russian aircraft design be without American aircraft design!'

A copy or the upgrade, it's just some minor difference. Let's take a look to the new WS-10C engine, it's very inspired by the russian's Soloviev D-30, don't you think so? Anyway, the WS-10C looks fine, and I still workiing on the pilot's seat and the cockpit too, but I don't have much more reference from the rear part behind the pilot's seat.

Thanks guys for your help and I'll keep you in touch with the project progress, you 'll be happy exdraken :)

A friend of mine has the J-10s and that could be fine to make a set for the new engine from the Pakistan's J-10, the model looks fine after all, for the chinese version we can keep the kit part's engine or replace with a Mig-29's one.

  • salomon changed the title to J-20's WS

Here t is, I don't think the reboxing J-10 C will be fixed, the curve wasn't good, so I made a print for it, But you have to do some small surgical operation to remove plastic on the kit.

No, the real printing part aren't thiick, it's the bad photo effect, please look at the CAD drawing up there.

Still working on the cockpit and the seat model, not easy easy because there are so many different cockpit picture and I can't make my mind on the right one.

Wow, these updates for the J-20 and J-10 are beautiful and - I can honestly say - essential!
Tell me Salomon please, are these 3D model files available for purchase from you? Can you post them somewhere?
I would love to print them and use them to make my model more lifelike! I have both of them and I am not happy with them.

Regards: Steve

Thank you for your encouragement for this 3D printing project. Yes the J-10 and J-20 really needs some updates, those parts are too basic for 48 scale. I just finished the drift of the J-10 and I think I stop there, but the WS-10B engine For recent versions is possible.

I will try to take out the parts well and fix some printing issue, and if you are interested, send me a message.

The fit looks OK, no glue yet.
