arfa1983
I will be joining with this beauty. I currently don't have any 1/48 F-15 in the cabinet so this should make things right. The decals look too nice to not use. Also, it's nice to have a F-15E which isn't completely dark grey! My mojo is waning a little at the moment. Maybe because I've just moved house... not sure but this should hopefully get it back on track.
Corsairfoxfouruncle
Welcome aboard nothing wrong with an E and Tiger stripes. Hopefully this will help the Mojo reappear ?
arfa1983
@Corsairfoxfouruncle I hope so! Made a start already and seems to be going together quite well, but obviously it's the fuselage and wings which will be the real proof. I've never built this model before, so after this I think it's only the GWH F-15 in 1/48 I need to build. (Plus probably some old monogram one, which I likely built back in my youth anyway)
arfa1983
Well this is falling together quite nicely so far. As mojo is on tenderhooks though, I have done bare minimum on cockpit this time. I also made the grave mistake of priming it outside with a rattlecan of automotive primer in the 40+degree heat. Well. It's like Mr. Surfacer 100. After that I gave it a wash, drybrush, and put the kit decals on the IPs. Enough. Will paint bang seats when mojo is restored. Lots of weight up front. And we're quite close to having something Eagle shaped... Thanks for looking. Arthur Edited July 31, 2022 by arfa1983
Corsairfoxfouruncle
Yes thats coming together quick, looking good though.
Shalako
I haven't build an F-15 since 1990!!! But I have to say well done to Revell for creating such a beautiful kit and with a lot of details on various parts! Good luck with your build Arthur! Cheers, Bill
arfa1983
This really is such a nice kit. I had heard, but are any other Revell kits so nice? The nozzle detail is pretty good for plastic! (OK so I probably just haven't fondled any resin in a a while.) And the Eagle has landed... I didn't get the outer wings perfect but a lick of filler will sort them out. Looks like hardest bit will be getting intakes to look good. This is coming together very nicely, but with current weather conditions here I will need to travel to LHS to use their spray booths, which definitely slows down progress compared to spraying at home but it's still an absolute luxury. Cheers! Arthur Edited August 2, 2022 by arfa1983
trickyrich
Gotta love an F-15 with Tiger Stripes.......well anything with Tiger Stripes actually!!! Looks to be a nice model, the cockpit looks great for a kit supplied one. Probably best I don't show (or link) the new 3D printed nozzles you can get for these now........ bordering on resin porn!!! 🤣 You will absolutely love the GWH F-15!!!
Sam
Hello Arthur a cracking scheme you have chosen! Looks like a precise and clean build so far to me 👍🏽 Into what position will you put the air intakes? Sam

I won't be modifying them in the bent position.
arfa1983
With the 104 done and the special schemes GB starting soon it's time to get cracking with this one. Got some primer on. A few spots need some attention. This primer colour is pretty close to the dark gull grey I need so the primer may just turn into final coat with some modulation.
Wings unlevel
Looking good! Glad it’s not just me feeling the ticking clock but you’re well more advanced than I am!
arfa1983
Well I had a very productive couple of days this weekend! A lot of filling and sanding and scribing on the wing joints. I don't know why Revell designed the kit with the outer wings requiring gluing. For me it is definitely the worst part of the kit. I also fought with my airbrush and the weather but was able to get a modulated grey on plus the rear end Alcladed. I have most of the decals and stencils on now, these photos are from earlier today. The tiger stripes will need a little more softner and some fettling to get into place but in general I am very happy. A month left to finish this, and it's basically just the painting of landing gear, canopy and final assembly so should be OK! I do want to put a few dummy sidewinders on though also. Thanks for looking!

Hasegawa did that at 1/72, agree it's a bad option. Wouldn't know it with yours, looks immaculate!
Wings unlevel
You’re on a flyer! The modulated grey painting looks really effective.
arfa1983
Another somewhat productive weekend. Got almost everything painted and now pinwash is done too. I still need to clean up the pinwash then do final assembly. I am also planning on putting four kit dummy/practice sidewinders and three dummy GBU-12s, but did not get around to painting them today. I also just realised that I have not yet painted the seats yet either. I have also unfortunately lost the canopy actuator arm. Can anyone tell me how long it is in 48 scale?
arfa1983
Been working on this a lot recently but haven't been doing updates. Nothing much to report anyway, just preparing all the little odds and ends and cleaning up and redoing panel line washes. This morning got the airbrush out and did the ordnance Then a few hours later: DONE! I am extremely happy with how this turned out. And really this is a wonderful kit. I think better than Academy and probably Hasegawa too. It is miles better than Tamiya! While the tiger stripes may not be to everyone's liking for me it is something different and I'll definitely be building many more of these aircraft in the future anyway. (It is the most beautiful jet fighter to grace the skies!) Will get proper photos this week for gallery!

Corsairfoxfouruncle
For a Tiger meet scheme it is a bit restrained, but I actually prefer when they're not over the top and in your face.

Colin W
Great job on this. I particularly like the painting effect on the bombs nose and the nose undercarriage leg. Great work.
