Popular Post Angell328
Hi All! Been a bit quiet of late as work has kept me from the desk for half the year so far. When I have been able to get some time at the desk I have been building up a fair few of Zvezda's C130J-30 and C130K for the lads and lasses at work. With the Herc's time drawing to a close in the RAF a lot of friends and colleagues have wanted a reminder of our time on the Fabulous Fighting Freighter or Carbon Fibre Cargo Provider! That may get a smile from a few Timmy's veterans 😉😆 Additions to the kits come from Eduard, their cargo floor and troop seats are wonderful and really lift the cargo bay with a small amount of effort. Painted using Tamiya, AK, Mr color paints with a few homebrew mixes to create the variety of patches you see on a RAF herc. Ok, onward to the pictures of the current completed builds. No.1 ZH874 Build No.2 was a split paint job as my friend couldn't decide on which tail art to go for, so he got both! ZH880/ZH883 The 3rd Build was of ZH872 closed up. The 4th build was also of ZH872 (a popular aircraft!) but this time open with an Eduard interior. Also a scratch built tool kit and headset bag. The 5th Build is a special aircraft for many of us who have been on Herc's for a while. XV179. For this build I had to scratch build the centre seat framework, forward flare dispensers and the Dircm heads. Bringing us upto date with completed builds is No.6 ZH868. Eduard interior again for this. Also the box becomes a nice hanger for transporting the completed kits in! Hope I haven't bored you too much with Herc after Herc! So far 6 completed 1 nearing completion and another 14 in the pile 😮 Good thing I love the old girl! Thanks for viewing Matt 104

Winenut
Superb Hercs! You'll have to build a proper hanger I think!
Pinback
Great flight of Hercs there Matt Can we look forward to one in earth and stone maybe? (I remember them when we were in quarters at Colerne in the 70's) ('179 was a horrible loss)
James G
Nice Hercs! I used to watch them flying low near our house as a kid (latterly replaced with the A400M).

Unfinished project
Fantastic gaggle of the Mighty Hercules all of them are fantastic makes me want to go purchase a few of them for myself but this would involve a divorce and having to move house 🤣
Alpha Delta 210
Stunning builds from someone who obviously has an intimate knowledge and love of the type!
gazza l
Stunning collection of Herks and nicely photographed. 14 more???? I've built one and that takes up a lot of shelf space. Such a shame they are coming to an end with the RAF, living next to Cambridge Airport for the last 50 years they've been part of my life. gazza l
112 Squadron
This is an impressive collection! I love the detailed interior of the planes. You did a superb job. 👍

spruecutter96
A collection of amazing builds! It's a great shame that the Herc's retiring soon, after giving such long and faithful service. I guess that's "progress" for you. The colourful tail version looks particularly good. Thanks for sharing with us. Chris.
binbrook87
Wow! Very impressive collection indeed. To be honest I don't know how you kept the motivation to produce 'similar' models over and over (especially in this large scale) but they do look fantastic. The work on the interior is just superb and the faded green paintwork is spot on....very realistic as per the actual aircraft. A fitting tribute to a faithful workhorse....it will be sorely missed and unless I'm not seeing a 'bigger picture' in my opinion being retired waaaay too early 😕

Winded Penguin
Lovely collection building. A record of historical accuracy. Is there a plan for the models to end up on display together in a public setting? I do hope so, because in a few years time, the spirit and focus of the people flying and working on these aircraft will be dispersed and otherwise lost to time.
Bertie McBoatface
Great work! You have made me very nostalgic for my days on the Herc. Can I have a model please? 🙂 I didn't realise they were on the way out. I didn't realise that the RAF could possibly operate without them!

neilspen
Fabulous collection. I too admire your dedication to the Herc, to do so many in similar paintwork. I have one in the stash and have been wondering whether to get the Eduard sets, seeing your various builds has helped the decision. Great work.

I think the older kit will suit the classic scheme, especially with Land Rover and Bloodhound missile parked up next to her. Matt

There are some interesting interior builds coming up on the pile, some I am already regretting agreeing too, that will sure break the monotony🥴🤣 Many Thanks, have been having fun trying to perfect the faded patchwork effect Albert has. Not sure you would see much of the flight deck set, but if you are having an open ramp then an essential! Matt
