Yg Models
before started the long project of Metal Gear Rex series, i already tried this style on a free model kit. This kit actually not "metal gear", but i came from its designer: Yoji Shinkawa. You could see the details on Baihu is same as metal gear. I think this is some sort of unused concept art from Shinkawa, so publish in Koto's Frame Arms series... I got this OOB display stuff from a shop that I familiar with freely, and modified it into bust before painting. btw, the color scheme / camo is same as REX. Metal Gear Tiger ? Yg Models
thx ernestf, HOUSTON. i saw this bust concept in japanese blog, and got free model kit from friend, so try to recreate it. i shared it in HK models forum before, most comments are why not build the whole kit, they feel incomplete, waste the model kit...😦

Yg Models
thx rockpopandchips i like this bust too. that why i don't care what those modelers commented.😗 they do the same on my latest FSS HM too, just because it is a bust.😑 Edited November 4, 2022 by Yg Models
Electric Indigo
Very cool color scheme & weathering. I just noticed that the design of some of the Iron Blooded Orphan Gundams took some inspiration from Shinkawa's Tiger.

Electric Indigo
I loved Kenki's artwork in Dengeki Hobby's Advance of Zeta, but for me the original masters are Kazumi Fujita, Mika Akitaka – and Katoki. His Sentinel work blew my head off.

His Sentinel work blew my head off. Kazumi Fujita is a good designer, but his doesn't has new cool output after The King of Braves GaoGaiGar Final? Mika Akitaka is too famous for his MS girl; Katoki certain a great designer, his Ex-S is my top three MS. but i feel he became typical employee of Bandai now. how could ugly / old school / (his claims as) anime style MG Zeta publish in ver. Ka? that why i like Mamoru Nagano 's FSS very much...
Electric Indigo
Good point about Fujita, but I think the recent work of Katoki of Katoki, i.e. "improving" classic designs, is often underrated because of the subtlety of his approach. While his early designs for the MG line were instantly recognisable for their chamfered blockyness, he now has a wider range of forms that allow him to reconcile more radical designs like the Xi Gundam or the Zeta with the engineering aspects of bringing these MS into the form of a plastic kit. If you put the Zeta kits in a row, IMO you can see that the latest iteration is actually closer to the crystalline appearance of the original Nagano/Fujita lineart. Nagano IMO has gone all the way from the Renaissance of FSS's pure aesthetic to Gothicmade's Mannerism, i.e. inducing complexity with the intent to overwhelm the spectator. Yg Models
i agree latest mechanical design in FSS is overwhelmed, or Nagano might expanded why changed all the MH into GTM before, but we don't know japanese, hence can't get this kind of info. But i not only like the mecha in FSS, its setting, storyline are top class too. And he has full controls of his comics, his life, could "say no" to bandai, etc. On the other hand, after Katoki joined bandai, his design seems remain the same / fixed. He can't give me any spark after Ex-S (and it was designed before joining bandai), all seems so similar? yes his touch-up, fine tune skills are great, he could give a sense of buildability to gundam. (Nagano has did the same in heavy metal, an anime earlier than zeta gundam) however IMO, this kind of engineering aspects is pointless, a human form giant robot just doesn't make sense at all, (mechwarrior maybe better). All just subjective aesthetics matter, no good or bad, right or wrong. btw, the proportion of current gunpla are terrible, they always have narrow waist, small chest / upper portion, oversized leg / lower proportion. I think this began from ver.Ka? if Nagano's GTM is mannerism; Katoki just remain in comfort zone. anyway, fans always use filter to view the things he/she likes, it is good to hear different opinions from others.
