Juliet, 43(F) Sqn Not the same Juliet with the semi-permanent nose wheel steering problem in the early/mid 1980's (that had a photo taken reins fitted from the front cockpit which royally upset the heid yins)? Lord Riot
So if this doesn’t sell is it going to be another historic aircraft that a museum will break up? Why doesn’t the FAA Museum want to keep it?
franky boy
I’m in with a tenner! Joking aside I hope it gets a good home and what Lord riot says above doesn’t happen.
Coors54
One of the most iconic aircraft to operate from an RN carrier, the last conventional fixed wing type to be procured to operate off the last conventional carriers in RN service and the FAA Museum doesn't want it? Unbelievable...... Surely this 'frame is a better example of the type than the one in the Carrier Experience? Dave
Paul821
This seems contrary to standard museum disposal policy, which is to only sell items on the open market unless no other suitable institution in the UK requires it.

Dave From what I've read elsewhere this one is in a worse state (corrosion) than the prototype that they have in the Carrier Experience so they are looking to get shot of it. Troffa
XV586 was the Gate Guardian for 43(F) Squadron's HAS site at RAF Leuchars from around 1990 when the Squadron transitioned to Tornado F3's, until the RAF's departure from the base in 2013 or so. Parked outside on the Fife coast, gently fizzing for over a decade can't have done her much good. Sad to see her go.
