I can only plead insanity 😉 Oh that would be why then. I'm not exactly stable myself. 9 hours ago, Troy Smith said: One of the few tweaks I made was to repaint the red bits, as they are pillar box red, not brick red. I used vallejo light rust. (see pic), over varnish, so you can just wipe off an overpaint. it also has the advantage that you can touch in the leading edge if the fin without having to match the decals. Glad the wheel well hint worked, I noticed a couple 'how did you get that fit' ..... if you get the main spar wrong, the wing is then too thick, and you get the step that they talk about. I think that's the only real potential 'gotcha' with the kit. I should be getting some spare Arma canopies , and plan/hope to do a couple of the later BoB fabric wing planes. neat work so far cheers T Thanks again Troy I'll get some paint Cheers Alistair
AliGauld
The final bits of the fuselage were fitted, the canopy masked and painted green, then the whole thing was primed and finally Duck Egg Green was sprayed on the underside. Thanks for looking, CHeers, Alistair

But you're right. It was only after I painted the canopy with Internal Green and then primer that I wondered if it was aluminium as well. I will never live the shame down. . jackroadkill
@AliGauld, she's coming on really well. You're making me feel the need to dig one out of my stash and have a go at it, but that would be breaking my cardinal rule of only having three builds under way at once! 1

Dunny
Alistair, Looking very nice - the Duck Egg Green really shows up the ribbed effect of the fabric wing. I'm not sure you can now continue, though, after @Troy Smith has pointed out that error on the canopy framing 🤣. Lovely work, Cheers, Roger

Thanks Mark, It was an old bottle of Vallejo ModelAir that I'd hung on to after I gave the rest to my nephew and it's just as well I did. Guess which complete idiot didn't notice the colour scheme until it was time for paint. Cue some scrambling about in the paint drawers to find it. 9 hours ago, jackroadkill said: @AliGauld, she's coming on really well. I too try to only have three on the go. Does a double build count as one. . 9 hours ago, Learstang said: Very nice! Alistair, you are a model-making machine! AliGauld
Well, this took longer than I expected. Poor paintwork from me and a fair bit of paint lift from the masked Vallejo. (I knew there was a reason I got rid.) I had detacked the masking tape quite heavily too. Still, after some Dark Green and more Dark Brown and Eau de Nil as touch ups. It should be ready for a clear coat along with the Sunderland. Thanks for looking, Cheers, Alistair
