Me too - ordered yesterday. Happy now @mark.au @bigbadbadge😉

Why oh why do we associate with such dreadful people. 😂 Forcing us into such things.

Guilty as charged M'Lud.

I can only plead insanity 😉

Oh that would be why then. I'm not exactly stable myself. ;)

One of the few tweaks I made was to repaint the red bits, as they are pillar box red, not brick red. I used vallejo light rust.  (see pic), over varnish, so you can just wipe off an overpaint.

it also has the advantage that you can touch in the leading edge if the fin without having to match the decals.

Glad the wheel well hint worked, I noticed a couple 'how did you get that fit' ..... if you get the main spar wrong, the wing is then too thick, and you get the step that they talk about.

I think that's the only real potential 'gotcha' with the kit.    I should be getting some spare Arma canopies , and plan/hope to do a couple of the later BoB fabric wing planes.

neat work so far

cheers

T

Thanks again Troy I'll get some paint

Cheers

The final bits of the fuselage were fitted, the canopy masked and painted green, then the whole thing was primed and finally Duck Egg Green was sprayed on the underside.

Crikey that was quick to progress Alistair, looking good fella.

Great work

Chris

Thanks Chris,

Due to all the tips and help I've been given it's kind of falling together.

And that will be the kiss of death.

If you want a sacrifical glitch...you forgot the downward ID light behind the radiator.

from here http://www.primeportal.net/hangar/mark_hayward/hurricane_mk1_l1592/index.php?Page=2

which maybe of interest as it's the real L1592.

the inside of the canopy frames on airframes with mostly aluminium internals was also aluminium, although is one of the very few pics to show this detail...

There you go, it's all gone horribly wrong....

this is meant to be humour, as these are very minor and the light can just be a fiddled in if you trim the base off, or a bit of clear sprue and some clear orange

build looks good

cheers

Thanks Troy,

I was planning just to fill the light with a mix of Krystal Klear and Clear Orange.

But you're right. It was only after I painted the canopy with Internal Green and then primer that I wondered if it was aluminium as well.

I will never live the shame down. :wicked:.

Alistair,

Looking very nice - the Duck Egg Green really shows up the ribbed effect of the fabric wing. I'm not sure you can now continue, though, after @Troy Smith has pointed out that error on the canopy framing 🤣. Lovely work,

This is my favoured approach 👍

I did that on my first Arma Hurricane and liked the effect. :D

Looks good Alistair, the underside colour is very striking, I’ve always liked that.

Thanks Mark,

It was an old bottle of Vallejo ModelAir that I'd hung on to after I gave the rest to my nephew and it's just as well I did.

Guess which complete idiot didn't notice the colour scheme until it was time for paint.

Cue some scrambling about in the paint drawers to find it.

@AliGauld, she's coming on really well.  You're making me feel the need to dig one out of my stash and have a go at it, but that would be breaking my cardinal rule of only having three builds under way at once!

Thanks so much.

I too try to only have three on the go. Does a double build count as one. .

Very nice! Alistair, you are a model-making machine!

Best Regards,

Jason

Thanks Jason,

Don't know if I qualify but I'll accept the compliment graciously. :D

Thanks Roger,

I'm going to need to take some time to think my options over and see if I can take the mud slinging and black-balling that will come my way for the howling inaccuracy.:rofl2:

Absolutely.

Couldn't agree more. :worry:

I'm a total disgrace of a human being.

Troy, If you happen to be catching this it is all done in jest.

Which is not visible at all on the pics of the actual aircraft!

Well, this took longer than I expected.

Poor paintwork from me and a fair bit of paint lift from the masked Vallejo. (I knew there was a reason I got rid.)

I had detacked the masking tape quite heavily too.

Still, after some Dark Green and more Dark Brown and Eau de Nil as touch ups.

It should be ready for a clear coat along with the Sunderland.
