All is wrong.

1/72 Me 410 needs a new molded kit.

That's a good shout, I'd buy one if I wasn't a student. I'm sure there are plenty others who would pick one up, and it looks a bit unusual so good box art might sell it (I guess similar effect to the Defiant which is a good seller)

What about a late Bf109G in 1/72? A G10 perhaps

How much new material is needed for this, is the current kit suitable as a basis?

A starboard fuselage half (1 pc), waist windows (2), tail position (3), cheek panels (2), exhausts (2). Of course Airfix could also add the pitot tube (1) and laundry line antennae (2) that they blatantly disregarded so far. Who'd buy a Spitfire, P-51 or a FW 190 kit without these basic details, eh? B-17 modellers are so badly served by the model industry.

New fuselage halves and clear parts for a start. The Airfix B-17G is not modular like the Revell kit (or the Hasegawa and Academy kits for that matter). This fits with the apparent Airfix philosophy of not requiring the builder to do surgery to get a particular version from a kit.

If they didn't do it for the centenary then I don't see why they'd do it now. And they didn't. Perhaps my attitude isn't good, but at least I won't be disappointed.

I suppose Be-2 and Fokker were used as a test ball for the Great War subject sales and they have been found too low. With more famous subjects like Camel, Se-5a or Dr.1 result might have been different. So I don't except something new from this fascinating time period nor do I believe AVRO 504 in any variant.

I haven't read all the previous posts, sorry.

My guess, my hope, is an early variant of the current B-17G kit. Un-staggered waist, three-panel waist windows, a Stinger tail, new radio room roof hatch and possibly new cheeks without large bulged windows and mg:s. And correct #2 and #3 exhausts too! Hopefully the later G specific parts would also be included in the kit, at least the tail and cheeks.

A Me 410 would be nice too. V-P

Considering the fact that the Airfix B-17G now takes the podium for the most accurate B-17 in 1/72 scale, and B-17’s do sell, I would hope to see more of it. However it would need a new fuselage regardless, because they didn’t make the waist windows modular to give the option of unstaggered. The tail turret is modular and I really wish they would have included an earlier turret. Most of the Fortress III’s had the standard tail turret, not the Cheyenne, which is my only beef with the kit (they have 2 intersecting seams right in the middle of where a pear shaped window would be!) Cheeks are the same on all B-17G’s unless you do the rarely seen no cheeks, seen prior to field mods. I could go on, but I feel a mid to late F, Fortress IIa, would fill a huge gap in 1/72 B-17’s. The only thing you would have to do is fill in the wingtip vents, otherwise new wings. Had they made it more modular from the get go, they could have done so much more with little investment. I cross my fingers, but I don’t think it’s coming. BTW if anyone hasn’t built theirs yet, the little decals they give you for the rudder hinge access panels, the only one on the starboard side is the lower most one, they have duplicated the port ones entirely.

Spitfire Mk.VIII in 1/24 is quite likely, box art with a Grey Nurse would absolutely empty many a wallet!

Cheers

We do have enough 109 and will get already new line from Eduard, that could include an G-10.

Eduard 109s don't make money for Airfix and I think it caters for a different niche

Airfiix of late seem to like the Battle of Britain  era. Fairey Battle, Hudson. Plus FAA

Airfix will just fill their boots.

I’ve seen a lot of people suggesting a 1/48 F35B.

Do Airfix ever really do anything “modern”?

They did the Buccaneer.  That's modern enough for most of us.😊

Ok, FWIW, I'll play too, my list of new tool predictions:

1/72

B-24 Liberator

Sepecat Jaguar

1/48

Lysander

Something in 1/35 armour

And something in the car range.

That's all.... But....

I just can't help but think they might announce something extra special at the Hawker Hurricane event they've planned... 🤔

A 1/48 Jag would be amazing, especially if it includes the option of a two-seater.

I'd love to see a two seater, with the option to build the French version that features two 30mm cannon.

I guessed the 1/24 Hellcat correctly 😁

Allow me to go out on a limb and I'll hand you the saw. Would a 1/24 Hawker Hunter be too out of line?

List of potential 1/72 Aircraft Vintage Classics releases.

I went through the Airfix 1/72 military aircraft and created a list of kits which have not been superseded nor are the moulds known to be missing or worn out (except the SR.53). I also omitted kits that have been reissued relatively recently. This is what Airfix has to choose from for their Vintage Classics. Maybe one year, but the Spit has just been released, so no 1/24 aircraft for a few years. I think a 262 would appear beforehand, because anything German sells.
