Hello Gents,

Last week, Mrs CC was eager to go to theatre seeing Elvis....

I agree with pleasure, since I'm a rocker to the bone...

I must say that I really enjoyed the movie, really great....

She then told me, "let's see Top Gun, are you okay for that ??"

So 2 days later we were back at the Kino.....

Good movie, great in flight images, some good references to the first opus...

A good time indeed !!

But, it resparked this build started years ago.....

IMG_20220714_163253

Sorry @The Spadgent, I sure did it again !!

And yes !! Sure enough, it will be another Jolly Roger !!

Here are the sprues...

IMG_20220714_163341

And some extras....

IMG_20220714_163318 IMG_20220714_163332

I will share the pics as the buid went in !!

It is not a complete RFI, as I said it here above, I already started it....

Always amazing to take back an old kit, Good way to see if my skills have improved..... Or not...

I then get in Namur, my son is now officially in university...

We thanked for it by a visit in this place....

More to come soon Gents !!

Sincerely.

That looks like a good kit, especially with all that aftermarket. Brilliant movie too!

Looking forward to your build.

Here we go again! 😃🤪 looks like a lovely kit. And agreed, with the after market on top she’ll be a another brilliant Jolly Roger out of the CC stable. I’ll be around as always. Just pour me a Guinness . 🙌

Always good to revisit a stalled build. likewise, haven't heard of Avionix before. I'll pull up a stool, there looks to be a very good selection of draft on tap. Will there be enough room on the bar counter?

Spad in onboard !! Anchors aweigh then !!

Guiness, that's precisely what we both have !!

Now, even in Belgium, getting in an irish pub and having a Belgian Rocket fuel is almost insulting.....:rofl2:

Welcom aboard Colin !!

Fridge are full, there is still room for any other usual suspects !!

Well Avionix is basically coming from True Details....

Squadron products it is.... Why did they choose such a gallic name is still an enigma....

But they have some very interesting stuff, I appreciated the ejection seat collection....

One or two resin seats for each of the Monogram century serie in one pack.... Good deal indeed !!

Soooo, where are we now....

the nose is done and ballasted with usual .357...... really a good deal since it get the weight as far forward as possible.....

I know my Dear Tony @TheBaron, borderline modeller.....

IMG_20220714_163401

Then, fuel tanks are done and I started my own seamless intake trunks....

IMG_20220714_202104

In fact, I was on my way to improve the Hasegawa interior....

But, I had a bonus ticket at Squadron..... And the kit was at bargain price.....

Too much a temptation for an average CC.....

So, here is the kit, beside the original parts....

Decision made in a few seconds.....

The coaming alone will justify the expense....

IMG_20220714_225048

Okay Gents !!

2 more evening work days....

Fixing cars on the roadside... under a blistering sun.....

:evil_laugh::evil_laugh:

Sincerely...

Nice work on the intake and tanks. I don’t know if it’sa trick of the light or the angle but the resin office looks bigger than the kit one. Does it fit? I loved resin parts but I have always had to chop the heel out to get the blighters in. Those seats look the business too. 🤩🤩

good luck in the sun Mon Ami.

Hello Spad,

It is an optical effect, they bot have the same size, but there will be a lot of sanding under the tub....

As always with resin parts, but as it will not be visible..... Coarse file until it enter in the nose..... :deadhorse::deadhorse:

One example of my interventions yesterday ???

I got a "I Know it all" bloke almost 35 years old.....

Remotes for open his big Audi A6 were'nt working.....

None of the 2 remotes were working.... Hum hum....

It is important to talk with our customers.... I learned that he changed the batteries of these remotes......

Aaaaaand the batteries were placed upside down..... :rofl2::rofl2:

I really enjoy the look on their faces at the time I put it right.....:evil_laugh:

And everything worked fine....:evil_laugh::evil_laugh:

But I cannot tell "Your car work fine, you're just plain stupid".....

Damn !! it is frustrating.....

One last evening work day and I'm back at the bench.....

Enjoy that sunny weather....

Sincerely.

IIRC Avionix was previously Black Box, the name changed many moons ago, not sure if it was down to a change of ownership or a change in marketing strategy.

Great to see this one underway CC, will be following along 👍

Now this qualifies as a diplomatic incident CC. As we speak the Belgian ambassador has been summoned to the Dept. Of Foreign Affair here for an explanation.

Guiness outside of Ireland is merely squid ink with a layer of cream on top; as for the stuff they sell in that London, well...

How shocking !!

Having a guiness in a Stella glass !!:mg:

I hope that they offered it for free !! A pint of Guiness has to be presented in a Guiness glass !!

Now, moons ago, I had an official Guiness shirt !! And have been knighted at Saleen !! in the vicinity of Cork....

You're right there, makes it taste better!

Nice project on the F/A-18F, I plan to do a single seater in this scheme soon. Not sure if you've got a set, but this aircraft would have the later 'bard stack' ECS pipes.

Sixteen actually Tony, I am growing some extra tentacles for Telford this year.

What's all this fuss about Guinness? It's only a rather unpleasant byproduct of Marmite production after all.

Hello Gents,

When I look at my work of 6 years ago....

I'm ashamed....:tmi:

Well well !!!

IMG_20220717_202619 IMG_20220717_212319

I now have to repair this mess.....

Porky piggy pig CC !!

Then, Hasegawa is kind enough to give some details pics....

Just to show you what is not represented on the kit ???? :rofl2::rofl2:

Here's the nose wheel bay...

IMG_20220717_203717

And here's what it should look like....

IMG_20220717_203642

The same stand for the main wheel well...

IMG_20220717_203652

Sooooo.....

I changed my mind...

I will adjust the tub in the upper part of the fuselage....

IMG_20220717_210512

One can see that Avionix is quite good...

I will just have to erase the peg in the lower fuselage

a bit of sanding on the carrier of the resin part...

Und Foilà !!

More to come soon for my next RFI's

Find some shadow and happy modelling !!

Sincerely.

It’s always interesting picking up something that was left unfinished several years ago ( I have many ). Sometimes it’s a pleasant surprise and sometimes not!

I remember Avionix also. I think they bought up Black Box, who used to make some nice stuff if a bit pricey.

Stay cool

I got it from Squadron USA it was at bargain price...

It was not a good surprise on this one...:tmi:

Dare I share with all the Guiness aficionados dipsos out there, that the best stout in the world is brewed in New Zealand. I've tried it & for a non stout drinker, was bloody impressed. Having said that I've never drunk a Guiness in Ireland so am somewhat unqualified to comment, should I ever get the opportunity, I'll probably ask for a Stella. :D

Looking forward to seeing this progress CC, onwards mate.

I’m not a big Guinness drinker ( ducks for cover ) and didn’t believe that it tasted better in Ireland until we went there on holiday and found the stories to be true. We stayed at a small country hotel and most evenings I spent half an hour in a hot tub with a pint of Guinness before dinner..

Oh yes, the aeroplane. I like what you’ve done so far with the cockpit.

Stay safe.

Strangely enough I have had a pint of the Black stuff and from within the hallowed walls of St James Brewery.  Guinness here is a much better prospect that outside of Ireland (though I have had a better pint from without the Brewery walls).  Those dodgy glasses of Guinness shown above would make you ill and would be sent back here..

BTW Nice Hornet CC..

I roamed the green island from west to East and from south (where I saw palm trees) to the giant causeway.... But never put a foot in Dublin... Weird is'nt it ??

I've been christened at Saleen pub, near Middleton..... Yes, I visited the distillery twice....

Hornet ???

Huh, that 1/48 thing ??

Thanks for the kind words Gents !!

I'll be less present since my PC is out of order

With a huge piece of luck, I'll get it back on saturday.....

Someone somewhere tried to take control of it, I don't think that it's done... But....

So, see you soon

Stay safe and take care.

Nice work on the hornet. I very nearly built a 1/72 version for the recent Gb except the only kit I could get hold of was the Revell 1/72 version which had the wrong intakes no undercarriage and was €32 in my local hobby store ouch.

It’s a well known fact that Guiness doesn’t  travel well, a less well known one that most export Guiness isn’t brewed in Ireland ( afaik Jamaica has one of the biggest Guiness breweries)

You can always use your phone to post updates. I haven’t used my desktop PC since my late lamented Cat ( my avatar btw) Pip and my daughters ex did a number on it. ( one of them piddled on my power squid, and it hasn’t been the same since )
