Old Viper Tester Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 TG-7A, USAF s/n 81-0886, belonging to the 94th Airmanship Training Squadron at the USAF Academy. She was on loan to the 6512th Test Squadron, 6510th Test Wing, Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards AFB in October 1984. The Academy had experienced some troubling approach-to-stall characteristics with the TG-7A, so this example was sent to the USAF Flight Test Center for evaluation. The 6512th was tasked with evaluating the aircraft flight characteristics and identifying any required mitigations in flight procedures. Note that the left wing has been "tufted" for airflow visualization. Thanks for looking, Sven Old Viper Tester 11
Blue Monday Posted July 31, 2022 Posted July 31, 2022 Looks like a fascinating machine. Thanks for the photos. BM.
stevehnz Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 That is a change of pace, interesting looking beastie though with an elegant appeal. Thanks for posting, as always. Steve
Sierra Tango Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 Many thanks for posting the images Sven. Being a knucklehead that I was back then I failed to take any pictures of one that was on display at an airshow either at Dyess AFB or Sheppard AFB in the early 1980s. Opportunity wasted! Steve
