It has my seal of approval and I really enjoyed reading it.' Panzermeister36 waxes lyrical on T-34 SHOCK: THE SOVIET LEGEND IN PICTURES: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myKgznGw6G8 Historically rich in detail with previously unpublished photographs, including those taken by German soldiers Detailed description of technical aspects of the T-34 with photographs, diagrams and maps An excellent reference book for military modellers, historians and tank wargamers interested in the T-34 with authentic camouflage livery ‘The finest tank in the world!’ Field Marshall Paul Ewald von Kleist In their opening gambit during the Second World War, the Germans seemed unstoppable as they conquered Europe. Their victory then dramatically stalled during the invasion of the Soviet Union when they faced a new tank that shocked the Wehrmacht: the mighty T-34. With a superb 76-mm gun, thick armour and able to cruise more than 35 mph, the T-34 was a rude awakening for the Germans as it could blow Panzers to oblivion. By the end of the war, some 60,000 T-34 tanks were built, which proves the point that quantity does have a quality of its own. Delve into the photographic history of one of history’s most famous tanks. In T-34 Shock: The Soviet Legend in Pictures, Francis Edward Pulham explores its technical and design innovations, which made the T-34 the best tank of the war. For the first time, a detailed and comprehensive study of the T-34 has been conducted though the photographs of those who opposed them on the battlefield as well as its humble beginnings to a hero of Mother Russia. The tank that needs no introduction is often misunderstood on a technical level, and the lines between history and stories are often blurred. Explore the reasons behind technical changes implemented to this mythical weapon and its combat history from the first encounter during Operation Barbarossa to final victory in the ruins of Berlin and the fall of the Third Reich. A very very thorough analysis of version/variations of the T-34, backed with extensive photos. Highly recommended, though the photos are a bit small is my only complaint, and making them bigger would be impractical given the sheer size of the book, and it's very much a reference book rather than a general history. Not something you would read cover to cover, but would refer to. I know Francis Pulham, not well, but he has come to IPMS Mid Sussex a few times. I did email to ask him about what the various 1/48th models represent OOB. for those interested , @SleeperService perhaps, this was the reply a quick google search tells me this: Hobby Boss 'T-34/76 1942 factory 112' is indeed from 112, but from 1943, like the tanks from between pages 218-220. HB 'T-34/76 1943 factory 112' is a UTZ 183 hard edge T-34, dating from between October 1942 and June 1943, as found on pages261-277. HB 'T-34-85 flattened turret' is a UTZ 183 1945 production T-34-85 with a single cupola door, found between 380-387. HB 'T-34-85 angled joint' is a Omsk 174 turret, the hull needs correcting with the right hinges. found on pages 396-402. Tamiya T-34-76 is also from 112, and from 1943, like the tanks from between pages 218-220. Tamiya T-34-85 is also a UTZ 183 1945 production T-34-85 with a single cupola door, found between 380-387. I'll suggest he makes a longer list of for other kits, as that would be very useful. 2
