John
I saw this on the 'Bay and I really couldn't resist 🙄  The P-40 is one of my all-time favourite modelling subjects. I remember having this boxing as a kid and being super-impressed with the sliding canopy:   It's actually maybe even a wee bit more sophisticated a kit than the Airfix Kittyhawk, a kit much loved by my generation of model builders.  This will not stay in the box for long 😀  John
John
Pure nostalgia 😀  1960's era Revell green plastic in what is, by today's standards, a tiny box:   It's around on a par with the Airfix kit, which actually came out a year later, and is if anything a bit more sophisticated. Much more flash than you would typically find in a contemporary Airfix kit though:   Revell GB instructions from Potter's Bar:    Transfers look past it but I probably wouldn't be using them anyway:   Can't wait to get in about this. I built the P-36 a few years ago it it built up really nicely:   John
stevej60
Another fine choice John I remember this one as a kid.
John
This is the decal sheet from the "Claws and Teeth" boxing of the Special Hobby P-40E:   Plenty of options there:  https://www.scalemates.com/products/img/5/6/7/1225567-72-instructions.pdf  John
jean
Hi John, Â I believe many modelers from our generation built at least one Revell P-40 sometimes in the 60s. Ditto re the sliding canopy. I thought this was the coolest thing since the wire to cut the butter. So enjoy the build and have a lot of fun. Â JR 1 1
Jeepboy
I really liked these Revell kits because they had little extras like opening canopies or engine panels you could remove (Polikarpov I-16) so much more fun than the competition.
Corsairfoxfouruncle
Never have seen one of these kits. Looks ok from what I can see, though I agree the decals are knackered.
GAF
Interesting kit! I built a lot of early models back in the late 60s, but I don't think I built this one. Good luck!  Gary
John
Basic construction is reasonably painless, apart from the short-shot under the nose:   A coat of light grey is needed to kill the Revell green plastic.  John  5
Corsairfoxfouruncle
Well thats not good, plastic or fill it with everything to repair ?
John
A combination of Humbrol filler, chopped up Microstrip and superglue and accelerator seems to have done a reasonable job: Â Â Â Some black paint, still wet in this photo, should hide most of the repair on the inside. Â The current Humbrol filler really is excellent stuff. Â John
stevej60
Good save with the filler John, another kit an awful lot of us of a certain age built along with the Airfix kit just for that shark mouth! Ooh could a P-40 STGB be in order?
