Getting better and betterer, Ali. Mark is absolutely right that the stripes do look good. And I have just realised that I don't have a Spit with stripes on my shelf.... hm... now what do have in the stash...

Thanks very much.

You must have a stripey spitfire the shelf isn't complete without at least one.

That looks terrific so far!  It's a shame about the stickers... I've never had any issues with Eduard's decals, maybe you got the Friday afternoon batch? :(

Thanks so much.

To be fair it was only the stencil decals that were an issue, and I've not had a problem with Eduard decals before.

Must just've been a bad batch.

Cheers,

Alistair

After the complete feeling of existential failure that came after finishing the Sunderland I just didn't know what to do with myself and then work got in the way.

Finally got a day off so the Mark.IXc is on her feet.

Some staining on the underside was also done.

And the prop has been put together.

Still to do,

Fit the Mast, Pitot and underwing IFF aerial.

Clear coat and unmask.

Should get that done in the next couple of days.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair

Moments away from completing another nice Spitfire, glad I got back in time!

Thanks Mark,

Matt coat has been done, prop is on with the pitot and IFF underwing aerial and the rear view mirror is on. Just awaiting the glue drying.

As you said Alistair "She is on her feet" and just a few bits left.

Nice work mate.

Stay safe.

Simon.

Thanks Simon,

The bits are all on now and I'm just waiting glue drying.

More tomorrow.

I realised this morning as I was getting ready to take some photos that the exhausts weren't done.

One hour later.

Wow, that looks terrific!  The underside staining is masterfully done.  I struggle with that, myself... I found a couple photos of unbelievably filthy spitfire undersides and unfortunately used that as justification to get out of control on a couple of my earlier builds.  I've since learned to be more subtle, but I haven't been able to achieve the level of authenticity that you've got here!  Nice work!

That is extremely kind of you.

To be honest I just played about with  some oil paints until it looked reasonable. Got lucky again.
