Thx MDC did a Floatplane conversion, I don't know if still available though. Gartex did a 'kit' which used the Hasegawa Vb as a basis https://www.scalemates.com/kits/gartex-ga-6-spitfire-mkvb-float-fighter--949370 googling "gartex spitfire floatplane" also brought up https://www.hyperscale.com/2015/reviews/accessories/silvercloudscc4801reviewbg_1.htm Which was through Freightdog, @Colin @ Freightdog Models maybe able to answer if will be reissued this maybe worth a read this si a recent build using the gartex bits with an eduard kit https://modelingmadness.com/review/allies/cleaver/gb/spit/tc5bf.htm HTH

brewerjerry
Hi years ago airfix magazine did a conversion article using i think either blackburn shark or swordfish floats , it was 1:72, but would SMER 1:48 swordfish floats match the spitfire ones ? or are they to large ? or would 1:48 ar-196 floats work ? cheers jerry Edited June 29, 2022 by brewerjerry
iang
I think they were Blackburn Roc floats.

JohnHaa
Julien, For many years I did one conversion in 1/48. There was only the old Monogram Mk.IX. aviable to me. I made one big mistake, the colours, in that time I did not have the right info only William Green's Fighters to work from, It was very difficult yo see, that the plane had the regular two tone camouflage with yellow undersite. Please have a look at this link for the results : https://www.modellversium.de/galerie/artikel.php?id=10006&origin=mb Regards, JohnHaa

Supermarine designed their own float for the later ones. Be careful about which float-Spit you wish to do- the paint job of the Mk.IX may not be the same as that of the Vs sent to Egypt.

Graham Boak
There's a nasty little question digging away at me. No doubt the old conversion article used Shark floats because they were available in the Frog Shark, but were did Blackburn get floats from the Roc from? Must get around to looking in the Blackburn Putnam sometime...

According to Dinger's Aviation page, Roc floats were in fact Shark floats.
Graham Boak
So anyone with both kits can compare the Shark and Swordfish floats, which may open up the options for modelling this "what it" Spitfire.
