Despite my working at Grumman, my 2nd favorite aircraft is NAA's T6 Texan. Here's Monogram's 1/48 Miller SNJ:

snj-done16.jpg

snj-done12.jpg

I used an old Lion Roar PE seat set set and Squadron vac canopy. The port upper wing and stabilizer stripes bested me and never settled down. Adding insult to injury, 'that little voice' was telling me to paint those dang stripes rather than use the decals. :wall:

I intend to do another for this GB, but with AM decals. In addition to the Lion Road and Squadron bits, it will use Flightline Engineering's spiffy 1:48 AT-6 TEXAN COWL & ENGINE set.  They're beautifully done! PM me if you want photos to the parts before I get to the build.

I only ever built 2 kits which would have been eligible for this GB. First is the Benz 1628s which I showed in one of my build threads earlier this week. I intend to build three more in this GB!

It was converted from a 4x2 artic tractor into a 6x4 hookloader.

20200531204607-1dad40eb-me.jpg

The other one is the Unimog which was new tooled in 1985 as a fire truck. I built the 1989 reboxing of the white UN vehicle. This one got converted into a flatbed with wooden bed and aftermarket resin wheels because the kit has terrible squishy vinyl tyres.

I'm now going to clear my bench for Saturday!

Until I saw Enzo's F-105 entry for this GB I had not realised that the first Monogram kit I ever built was the one in the middle of this photo.

kits

Like the following photos, my old manual camera has resulted in less than perfect focus!

What I thought was my first but is apparently my second is the B-52D which I believe dates back to 1970, though I bought it one Saturday in about 1984 from my local newsagents - I think it cost £10!

20180321231315-05

About 3 years later I bought the B-36 which I believed was released in 1980 - it was mail order from Tony at HJ Walker's in Hackney and his first attempt was apparently mis-delivered to a bank in London where he told me it was blown up as a suspected bomb! The second parcel arrived safely and here it is.

20180321231315-07

I put the perspex shelf up over the stairs specifically to display the B-52, but in the end SWMBO complained about dusting them and so the shelf has gone and the kits are on top of a wardrobe gathering dust! Since then I may have built a P-51 and I definitely built a Tigercat for the "In the Navy" GB but cannot find any photos - must be there somewhere!

Later,

Found it.

DSC02832-crop

AFAIK that is my entire involvement with Monogram - Revell is a different matter but most of the kits are long gone, but here are a few.

The CR42 and MC 200 are old Revell kits from the 1960's

Agree 100% with @paul-muc, she's very elegant with the rivets sanded off! Here's mine, also the Revell rebox with aftermarket decals.

Always fancied an Albatross after seeing the 1964 film "Flight from Ashiya" (Richard Widmark, Yul Brynner etc) .

A good looking plane that does not turn up very often. I see they are going for anywhere between £30 and £60 plus postage on e-Bay.

Here's one I made earlier, the Monogram, ex-Aurora Maserati 3500 GTI.

y4m0AZ6-wcOVo8oKxRf-dovOKdXIhI1GpoLnYH1W

It had a lot of work done to re-shape the radiator grille as the moulded shape wasn't anything like the real thing, there were also lots of seam lines and sink marks to deal with.  Oh and although the kit was 99% complete and everything important was there, a few little bits like the side grilles needed scratch building.

y4mSmei8n-7iD-F4G68d6aIXvoPO6XdOFPrnATwD

I also gave it PE wipers and a bit of under-bonnet detailing.

y4m7JNVTpcz3Tb49IP3as3AeG81FntIQsbp2qrxx

I found a rather lovely after-market steering wheel, made some seatbelts and modified the door cards to more closely match the real thing.

y4mO9w5KuvSBOYsnjMnSQenf7A2WSYdcSMvHZNvH

The kit decals were long gone so I had to make do with what I could find aftermarket, I think the script is wrong (too modern) and should read "Maserati GTI" with the word "Injetzione" written across the trident badge. But it's better than nothing, I think.  And, boy, am I glad I drilled out the exhaust pipes.

As you can probably tell, I'm really proud of this build.

Good morning,

I don't want to bore you with my work, but just post some pictures of my Monogram models to make myself happy! :P :penguin:

I found photos of some Monogram models that I built in the very early 1980s:

Vought F4U-4, to look like a Corsair from the TV series with Robert Conrad:

002_mo10.jpg

Note the elaborate diorama on the floor, made with...sand!

003_mo10.jpg

The wheels were very thin so that they could retract into the wing. And I played with it!

TBF Avenger and SB2C-5 Helldiver:

004_mo10.jpg

Here is a moment of life with the B24J Monogram:

005_mo10.jpg

I'll spare you my pimply, scowling adolescent face!:clown:

By the way, here is a picture of my display window today:

001_mo10.jpg

The liberator still exists, it is on top.

I rebuilt it in the 1990s:

006_mo10.jpg

007_b210.jpg

I re-did a TBF Avenger Monogram:

tbf_am14.jpg

309_tb10.jpg

...and another Corsair:

304_f410.jpg

30510.jpg

You can also see a B26 Marauder Monogram in this showcase:

17_b2610.jpg

and a SB2C-5 Helldiver.  but it is a Monogram-Pro modeler...

3_sb2c10.jpg

I like the B25 Mitchell Monogram, I have built two:

120_b210.jpg

(the pin up is hand made.

122_b210.jpg

(but not this one!)

This is the Revell B17F:

114_b110.jpg

The Monogram Huey:

017_hu10.jpg

018_mo10.jpg

Monogram P40B:

022_mo10.jpg

here are some soldering lamps:

 226_m210.jpg

Mirage 2000C...

...next to an F111, still Monogram:

016_f110.jpg

and comparison with the F14 Tomcat Monogram:

015_mo10.jpg

013_mo10.jpg

There must be one or two left in the garage, but I won't bother you any longer.

Regards,

Eric-Snafu35

Some lovely builds there, especially that Liberator! Nicely photographed too, they look like real aircraft in some of those pics!

I have too much on already to join this build but here are a couple of my Revell builds from the past: the Morane-Saulnier Type N and Sopwith Triplane, both extensively modified/corrected.
