Marklo
The kit, bought for less than a tenner from the Kingkit Scrapyard, missing the machines guns, but I’d probably have replaced them any way. Still haven’t decided on the finished scheme, but it won’t be Richthofens machine. Built many times as as a kid, I’m finally going to try to do justice to the kit, and put a high level of detail in as it’s such a large scale. Toryu
You are really out for a record, aren't you? I can't count how many you entered, but I know most of them from my own modelling history. Didn't know that the Fokker is from 1957 - it's a great kit!

Marklo
Actually I have a very old Scale models special edition ( remember when there was no internet and reference material had to come in print form ) which includes the Fokker DR1 and I was thinking of one of those schemes. Must post an image when I get a chance. I wanted to do a mostly factory finish build. Edited June 22, 2022 by Marklo
Marklo
My main reference published in 1982 No excuse for lack of detail At the moment I’m between scheme 1,2 and 3. Edited June 23, 2022 by Marklo
Marklo
This could also be a distinct possibility.

Marklo
Lots of activity on the DR1 front.. First off a laminated paper blank for a new prop. Cut out with my scroll saw, lots of filing and sanding to follow. Start of assembly. Making a template for the interior frame. Taped up and ready to solder. Soldered, I’m getting better at this. Dry fitted after a bit of dremelling the fuselage. Now to make the other side and join up the frame.

ColonelKrypton
Your brass work looks quite nice and should add a good bit of extra dimension and detail to the old Fokker. cheers, Graham
Marklo
Two nearly identical sides. Next step the cross members.
Marklo
After much fiddling, fettling and furtling ( yes it is a word) my brass frame is done and looking smart ( dry fitted only, I’ll finish the interior detail before glueing anything) I’ve also added some plastic sheet for the plywood cheeks and painted the fabric parts in buff and the wooden ones in desert yellow. I’ll probably break out the oil paints for some wood grain effects next.

Marklo
After more sanding, a coat of clear orange and some clear satin varnish. Needs a few more coats and a bit of polishing.

Marklo
Not a lot of activity in this one. I’ve given the paper prop a few more coats of clear. Now that the Dornier and the two Japanese builds are done I’ll probably focus on the F100 and the Canadian builds then this as me the other two revell ogram builds will take priority.
Marklo
Back on the bench. The metal work has been painted buff as a little research showed that Fokker covered the sections of steel that contacted the outer fabric in doped linen to prevent the metal tubes abraiding the fabric. I’ve used the kit floor, pedals and stick and I’m just about ready to zip it up.
Marklo
I had already assembled the wings and the construction of the lower wing in particular helps clamp the fuselage halves together. So leaping ahead, might even be ready for paint by the weekend. I think it will be Bruno Loerzers machine… Edited November 3, 2022 by Marklo
Marklo
Filled sanded given a coat of buff mixed with white (natural linen) masked primed and sprayed satin white from a rattle can. I’ll let it cure overnight and mask and spray the black tomorrow. Then it’s just sky blue Unser the wings and streaked green/khaki over the upper surfaces of the mid and lower wing. Now I’m definitely missing half a machine gun and possibly the rudder. The guns aren’t great any way so I was planning to replace them, just need to figure out the best way to make the jackets.
Marklo
masked and ready for the black.
Marklo
Black sprayed on. Upper wing a little bleed but easily cleaned up. After a bit of a cleanup. Green in the upper surfaces of the other wings. Light blue on the undersides and the undercarriage painted and fitted. I think I’m missing the one of the cabane strut sides and possibly three of the interplane struts. Oh well. That said very pleased with today’s progress.
Marklo
New rudder masked and painted. Needs a little touching up but ok. Doesn’t look that streaky irl !! Underside crosses masked and sprayed as well as a retouch on the undercarriage. Upper wing dry fitted, missing cabane strut made from brass and milliput.
