TimJ
This will be my first build for this GB (unless something else jumps the queue). 🙂  DSCF3286 by timothy jones, on Flickr  The Glitter Bug was one of a series of 13 caricature kits (9 cars and 4 aircraft) designed by artist and cartoonist Dave Deal which were issued by Revell in 1970/71. He also designed the instruction sheets which are as much fun as the kits. This one has driver Fred C. Dobbs guiding you through the building process.  DSCF3287 by timothy jones, on Flickr DSCF3288 by timothy jones, on Flickr DSCF3289 by timothy jones, on Flickr DSCF3290 by timothy jones, on Flickr  I believe that the original issue was moulded in a groovy metallic green but this 2013 reissue was moulded in white.  DSCF3295 by timothy jones, on Flickr DSCF3294 by timothy jones, on Flickr DSCF3293 by timothy jones, on Flickr DSCF3291 by timothy jones, on Flickr  This is one of the few kits that includes a pair of cool shades. 😎  DSCF3292 by timothy jones, on Flickr  I'm hoping this will give me a push to get the 'Funsters' Z-28 finished that I started in the under £10 GB last year.  DSCF2313 by timothy jones, on Flickr  I'm looking forward to seeing it next to the Go-Mad Nomad that I built a few years ago.  DSCF7367 (640x482) by timothy jones, on Flickr    Edited August 10, 2022 by TimJ

TimJ
When it comes to Revell/Monogram there's quite a bit of off the wall stuff out there. 😀

TonyW
I like the Dave Deal stuff, it's got a style all off its own, kind of laid back and in the groove. So different from the Ed Roth scene, but somehow very connected. Throw Tom Daniel and Stanley Mouse into the mix and I start to get a bit weak at the knees.  Roll on Saturday.

TimJ
I made a start this morning and after some parts clean up I stuck the driver's head together and did a quick mock up of him in the car. Â Â DSCF3307 by timothy jones, on Flickr
TimJ
The body has had a coat of primer and the chassis and inner wheels have been sprayed matt black. I popped the tyres on to get an idea of how it'll look and Fred hopped on board. 🙂  DSCF3345 by timothy jones, on Flickr
TimJ
A bit more progress. The outer wheel halves had large sprue attachment points which needed some cleaning up so I decided to strip the chrome, do the necessary tidying and spray them with chrome paint. This was followed by a black wash on the details.  DSCF3355 by timothy jones, on Flickr  After some clean up work on the tyres the lettering was done with a gel pen.  DSCF3354 by timothy jones, on Flickr  I had been wondering what colour to paint the body but eventually decided on Tamiya TS-52 Candy Lime Green,  DSCF3369 by timothy jones, on Flickr
Smudge
Groovy. Â Is that paint from a rattle can?
TimJ
The paint is from a rattle can. The Tamiya paints usually go on well straight from the can in my experience.  There has been some progress since the last update. The main engine parts were painted and assembled. I added some red detailing to break up the metallic areas.  DSCF3370 by timothy jones, on Flickr  After the engine was fitted to the chassis the velocity stacks and exhaust were added. The exhaust parts took a bit of lining up but I got there eventually.  DSCF3449 by timothy jones, on Flickr  I had to strip the chrome from the headlamp buckets along with a few other parts not because of the quality of the kit chrome but due to the rough surface of the plastic underneath. After smoothing them down they were sprayed with chrome paint and added to the body, along with the fog lamps, tail lights and antenna.   DSCF3450 by timothy jones, on Flickr  I'd been trying to work out what the driver was wearing as it didn't look particularly hippie like. While looking through an old (early 70's) car magazine I realised that it was a rally jacket so he now has a yellow jacket with tan trim. The rest of him has been painted too so he's ready to go, complete with shades.  DSCF3482 by timothy jones, on Flickr  There isn't a lot left to do now so all being well it should be finished in the net couple of days.
TimJ
After fitting the sub assemblies together and adding the windscreen this is finished. A fun kit which went together without too much trouble.  DSCF3497 by timothy jones, on Flickr DSCF3499 by timothy jones, on Flickr  More pics in the Gallery. Now, what shall I do next?
