This was started last year (or was it the year before?) for the Heller GB, it was not finished in the GB time frame ( can't recall why!)

Anyway with a 1400 km move since then it had to be put away. And by put away I mean make it fit back in the box, so it was 'deconstructed'.

I am now going to finish it off and have started its second assembly.

The state it got here in

And getting it back together.

After some sanding it was once again primed

In blue! I have lots of spare paint in odd colours so I thought I would use these instead of the usual primers. Some more putty has gone on.

It is close to reinstalling the blade antennas that were knocked off and wing tip HF antennas

Forgot to say, glad your saving it. Most plane modellers I know just through these in the garbage, I know, I don't mind rebuilding models.

I too find it very hard to through throw out a kit, I will persevere with it and finish it. I have quite a few that are waiting that sort of attention.

I'm always looking for junkyard lots. I have more fun restoring a model than building a new one sometimes.

Time to spend some more time on the E-3.

Primed in a more appropriate colour, and broken/missing antennas refitted.

Also checked the fit of the rotodome and supports. Had some issues with the support breaking, but it s now re-glued and setting again.

Hello, Ray.

Well done, nice repairs!👍
You must have had fun jumping up and down on the model to get it into its box before the move! The wing-fuselage joints were really broken.:(

Did you just glue the parts together, or did you use a putty to repair?
Good luck with that.

Thanks gents,

Eric ( @Snafu35 ), the Heller plastic was quite brittle and broke easily (shattered in fact), I would have liked to to come apart at the glue joins but those areas were stronger than the surrounding plastic.

Yes, putty was involve in the repair,

I finished a JSTARS back in 2021,

I used a sheet from Wolfpak, sheet number 72-077, it is hard to find these days.

Yeah, your build thread is where I got the idea from mate.. you almost made me buy a WM Poseidon as well! 😂

The Wolfpak decal sheet is the proverbial rocking horse so I’ll need to think of another solution..

Iam finally back to finishing this one up. I have had some time to refine some details, repairing broken antennas and adding some new ones.

The nose chin sensor was also removed and repositioned after some more reshaping. I still need to fair it in.
