1963 Sunbeam Alpine Series III

This is a 1963 Revell (GB) kit made pretty much OOB and painted using mainly Revell paints.

The kit has some serious shape issues and a windscreen that proved impossible (for me at least), to glaze.

Still, I'm sure its mother loves it!

1/72 Revell F4F-4, 1982 boxing in USN markings.

A fun build of a kit I built as a youngster about 57 years ago, this time in one of its USN iterations. The markings are a bit generic but similar to what flew off USS Yorktown just before the battle of Midway. By the time of that battle, I believe the red centres had disappeared from the markings. The colours were all Humbrol, the M-485 Blue/Gray mixed according to the IPMS recipe, the underside was Hu 129.

Build log here.

Oops, forgot the tyre black underneath.

Once again, thanks to the mods & everyone who gave likes & encouragement along the way. :)

Here is my Revell USS Lionfish submarine, in 1/180 scale. My first nautical build, and I have enjoyed it! A fairly simple kit, although showing its age with the fit in some areas and the amount of flash. Kit has previously been released as other US subs, Revell clearly of the opinion that they all looked the same, when that actually couldn't be further from the truth! Built mostly out of the box, except for the paint scheme and a few details added to the conning tower.

This is my #2 build, a Mercedes Benz 1628s like the first one, but this one is built as a tractor unit for a low loader, which I scratch built. The only mods to the tractor are the addition of the hydraulic tank and hoses and the flashing lights on the roof. Well, and the KFS resin rims and hubs of course.

The build log is here.

The tractor unit itself. The paint is Alclad Dark Alu over Tamiya semi gloss black.

And the both of them together, just leaving the yard to go and pick up their first load.

Thanks to the hosts for a great GB, I don't think I ever finished two builds in one GB!

Here's my Nieuport 28.  I am very happy to have this off the bench and onto the shelf.  Basic build, nothing fancy.  The prop is from the spares and the wheels are old Aeroclub white metal. Thank you for this GB.  It was a trip down memory lane.

WiP is here...

Revell 1:28 Fokker DrI scratch built internals and a paper propellor finished in the colours of Bruno Loerzer. A kit I’ve built many times in the past but I think I’ve finally done justice to it :)

My second kit in this group build, Revell's UDT Boat with Frogmen. Originally from 1967, this is the 2012 reboxing, purchased by my wife in Home and Bargain in 2019 for £1.99! Love the box art!

A fun build, and mostly went together nicely, considering it's age. Not entirely happy with the "rope", the arrangement I went for is a lot less complicated than the one in the instructions (which I just couldn't get my head round)! Finished in Tamiya Dark Sea Grey and Hull Red.

Revell B-17f,  "Oh, what a surprise! It's the Memphis Belle"

Revell B-17f with Master gun barrel set built as the "Memphis Belle"

Build log is here

The intention was to show her as she was at the end of the 25th mission, before any cosmetic upgrades for the US tour

I wanted that really weathered and faded paint effect - and moderately pleased with the result…

Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat, Revell 1/72, finished as a 'Torch' aircraft, '22' of VF-41, flown by Lt(jg) 'Windy' Shields, In fighting over Casablanca he was credited with two French machines downed, then had to bail out himself when, while returning to USS Ranger, he was bounced by a Hawk 75.

Curtiss Hawk 75, finished as 'white five', flown by Lt. Yves Fabre-Garrus of GCII/5 at Casablanca. He took off as VF41 arrived overhead, and was wounded but able to belly-in on the field.
