TonyW
Tom Daniels Baja Beast from 1970 One of Toms phenomenal output for Monogram. Aimed at the pre-teen market, accuracy and scale fidelity took a back seat for a bit of fun instead. They sold by the truck load, so the concept was sound. A mid mounted V8 VW Van with Monkee Bike and surfboard as extras. Never mind how drag slicks would perform getting you to the beach, or how the engine was cooled or any one of a number of other reality checks, the Van was purely for looks. Speaking of looks, the out the box sit of the van is just perfect to my eyes. The rake is menacingly right and the big slicks out back just shout out brute power to me. Not comments usually made about VW vans! I've added nothing except tire decals and brown flock shag pile carpeting for the whole interior. Groovy man... The open exhaust running through the cab would soon have that lot alight, but common sense and logic don't apply with Daniel stuff. An enjoyable, light hearted build. I can see a few more getting done. Build thread here:
Mjwomack
I thick this is the earliest I've ever been into the gallery, I've lowered the standard when I look at the people who've posted already. Here though is the Bell Airacobra that so many of us build once upon a time First, build thread Now the pics Thanks for looking and all the encouraging comments along the way, not least from our hosts (who aren't really as old as a Revell kit- I think)

PeterB
This is my build of the 1965 Revell GB release in 1/72 of the PZL P.11c fighter, though mine is a slightly later boxing – probably 1966. It is a simple kit with none of the “opening” bits of some other kits in this range (canopies, engine cowling panels etc), and I have added a cockpit interior (which is almost invisible), a pitot tube and exhaust pipes that were missing. I have also replaced half the kit decals with DIY ones as the originals either did not work or were wrong, and at the same time I have added 3 more which were not provided. Here is a link to my build thread- Like US Olive Drab and RFC PC10, Polish Khaki is one of those colours subject to some debate as to how green/brown it was, and the paint I used can look either colour depending on light and background - here on a brown base it looks green. Revell show this aircraft, serial 8.121 code/call sign 142-N as belonging to 111 Fighter Flight aka “Tadeusz Kosciuszko”, which was part of the III/I Fighter Squadron of the 1st Air Regiment which may or may not be correct – I cannot check. If so it was one of 9 P.11c and 2 older P.11a operated by the 16 pilots of this unit at the start of the war, when they were initially based at Zielonka airfield near Warsaw. During the conflict they had 4 pilots wounded and shot down 8 confirmed kills according to my sources and 4 planes were evacuated to Romania on September 18th, with another one landing in Russian held territory where the pilot was taken prisoner. Later their badge would be painted (much smaller) on the Hurricanes of 303 Squadron RAF aka “Tadeusz Kosciuszko -Warsaw Squadron”, which is said to be the top scoring RAF Squadron during the Battle of Britain. I have enjoyed building it, and am happy to have it back once more in my collection. Pete

Snafu35
Good morning, Here is My Curtiss SB2C-4 Helldiver from Monogram. Built with mainly the parts of the box, I remade the barrels with nested micro-tubes, the exhaust pipes, and I added Yagi antennas which come from another model. The marks offered by Monogram represent a Helldiver of the Marine Corps VMSB-244 in the Philippines in June 1945. Old Man
Revell Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien Kit is a mix of early and late features, it's too long for the former, but has the early tail wheel arrangement. I'm presenting it as an early machine of the 78th Sentai in New Guinea in 1943. I boxed off the wheel wells, shortened the landing gear, made the upper nose contour better and cut in new gun troughs. Decals are Techmod hinomarus, the character is pieced together from strips of white decal film. Finish is foil, mottle brushed on. Old Man
Curtiss F11C-2 Goshawk, 1/72 The kit provides decals for the Goshawk of Lt. Thomas S. Coombs, 2nd section leader of VF-1B, the then-current designation of the 'High Hat' squadron operating on the USS Saratoga in the summer of 1933. He seems to have been quite the go-getter: a little more than a decade on he was captain of USS Yorktown with Rear Admiral's rank, after several years on theater staff in the Pacific. The F11C-2 was intended for use as a long range scout and a dive-bomber, as well as a fighter. Its performance suffered in the former roles, and it could carry only lighter bombs on wing racks. Those still in service in 1934 were given a displacement gear, so a heavier bomb could be carried on the center-line, along with a high turtle-back and partial enclosure of the cockpit, and subsequently designated BFC-2. Build thread here: Here is an interesting item I came upon looking up details for the build. It's a Curtiss sales brochure for the type. http://www.airminded.net/goshawk/goshawkad.html Edited September 22, 2022 by Old Man
Corsairfoxfouruncle
I present to you the 1/48 Monogram F-84F in the final colors worn by the Illinois Air National Guard 169 Tactical Fighter Squadron F-84F’s in May 1969. I have given it a asymmetrical load-out for display purposes. Both the Mk.117 and BLU-27 were 750Lb’s so would not have been an issue. The smaller tanks normally carried weighed as much as 1250lbs so well within weight tolerances. Please feel free to visit my thread to ask questions or post comments. https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235112326-illinois-ang-f-84f-1969/ Dennis
