F-105 Thunderchief Wing Reinforcing Plates

My current build is the 1/48 Revell/Monogram F-105G to be back dated to a Wild Weasel 'F'. The plan is to use the kit decals, "SAM FIGHTER", claimed to be from May 1970. I am not clear whether the underwing reinforcing plates were applied to this particular aircraft.

 

The kit rendition is quite chunky. I have since removed them and will replace or leave off completely. Hopefully the latter.

 

 

When were these fitted? Post Vietnam era? Do they need to be left removed for my chosen aircraft or replaced partially or in full. Any advice welcome.

The wing reinforcement plates were post-Vietnam.
