The build has not stoped, just ... just summer, and the model turned out to be with character.

On the one side: rich detailing, here's a look at the chassis niche:

This is without any extras, only KH kit.

Resin ColdWar nose cone and cabinet required lapping:

The architecture of the fuselage is strange: three two-side parts.
This does not cause any particular problems, but requires care, especially when installing the resin bottom:

I can’t say that the bottom fit perfectly, but I already know that ColdWar resin is more of a blank than a finished detail:

And then the most interesting began, where I did not even expect.
The center console is also given by three parts, each of which is assembled from two sides.
All parts are fixed in the grooves of the fuselage:

Probably, when assembling the fuselage parts, I moved the parts a little in a couple of places, or KH a design error, but when installing the center console, in the morning I found this scoliosis:

spacer.png

Apparently, the back of the middle block of the console move a little to the right.
It was decided to correct:
cut down a little on one side, build up on the other.

Joyfully throwing Tamiya two-component (87097 TAMIYA Two-component polyester putty) putty, I went to bed.

In the morning, the putty was just as "fresh".
And the next morning too.
In short, putty "rotten". Most likely a hardener.

With difficulty wiping off this disgrace, I built up the side in a more standard way.

I adjusted the sides a little more and restored the panel lines and riveting.

Cabin before closing:

I will most likely do it closed, I like to leave closed last time.

Expert job on reshaping the spine, looks perfect from here! Having to do major modifications like that is the bane of my life but very satisfying when done well! Really enjoying this build and all the best with it!

Deacals!

I decided to check first on the fuel tanks.
KH optimistically cuts decals from 3 petals.
The result is not so good:.
- The decal is as thick as a piece of polyethylene.
- I can’t say that a nightmare, the decal is still clearly taken by SOL, but it takes several stages of smoothing and wetting with Sol
- The drawing was made "on the f*ck off", i.e. doesn't converge much.
And that's what I didn't like the most. The strips clearly did not want to converge, destroying the entire pattern.

After looking at the result all evening, with a bottle of vodka, I decided to make it in my own way:

spacer.png

Airbrushed yellow, applied liquid masks, then orange.
From the cuts parts of the decals of the Mig-29 strips (tiger) I cut out strips for the tanks.
Result:

Try to mask the camouflage with completely liquid masks.
Before that, I rarely used them.

spacer.png

I tried and...

Topic of applying liquid masks for camo to be closed. For me.
Enough is enough.

1) Difficult to clean. Bluetack' clearing is more simple.
Well, it's still nothing if it weren't for
2) Discovered once again the news that
Paint of one manufacturer, one type, but different colors - different!

With the green color of the two types of masks, they succeeded quite tolerably.
From black too, but not without troubles.
But from brown - it feels like the chemistry of the liquid mask has entered into some kind of reaction with the paint layer

All is ready!

One nig detail cut on stripes 1-2 cm

not sure how I was able to miss that build... :(

fantastic work, the full meal deal!

I'd say you nailed it, colors, markings, cockpit, etc..

the only thing I'd add is a training round of an R-60, or some small training bomb.... 🥰

cheers

🥂
