Thanks Chris but I appear to have posted this in the wrong thread.

I'll move it over.

Cheers,

Alistair

I looked at it and thought, I had already seen a black cockpit interior!!! After having a busy day I didn't realise.

This morning I set to work on gluing the fuselage together and made a start on the wings. I may have gotten a tad carried away as this is the current state of play.

I think I've got all the seams but only paint will tell.

I'll get the tailplane on tomorrow, mask up the canopy and get it glued in place.

I did a quick dry fit and the canopy is a really good fit so that'll make things a little easier.

I've not decided which version I'm going to go for as I was initially going to go for the high speed version but really like the look of the low speed one with the anti spin parachute containers and this will decide which canopy to use.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair

Blimey Alistair, looks awesome,  you'll be finished before you know it.

Chris

Thanks Chris,

With the wings on you can see why they called it the Swallow.

When I was young we had Swallows and Swifts nesting in the eaves of our house and I used to spend endless hours just watching them fly around they were so graceful.

Pity, this wasn't though.

Thanks Roger,

It looks like you are having fun there Alistair.

Careful with that axe though.

Stay safe.

Thanks very much Eugene,

I'm having a blast with this one.

I thought I'd caught all the seams but, no, missed one on the nose.

Sprue goo is cooking in there just now. A bit disappointing as I'd planned on some paint today.

Still, it's probably better that I don't rush.

The canopy still needs a bit of blending and that will be done later.

Thanks for looking,

I finally got the nose seam dealt with. Had to resort to CA and Talc.

First time I've used it and I was impressed.

Later today I'll get some Gloss Black on board and that'll be left for a couple of days to settle properly before the High Speed silver is applied.

Thanks for looking,

Looking good Alistair in primer,  CA and talc is brilliant stuff, the more tal  the easier to sand too, although it dries quicker too

Great job

Chris

Thanks Chris,

I've always been a bit scared to use it due to the sanding and CA not being great at taking it but I'll be using it on a more regular basis now.

It's fantastic stuff.

I've given the gloss black two days to completely gas off and it's been sprayed with some Alclad High Speed Silver.

Once that has had a chance to cure I'll have a good look and see if anything needs worked on and if not it's sticker time.

Looking good Alistair,  cracking job , the silver looks lovely.

Chris

Thanks Chris,

There a couple of bits that need a light sand and respray but overall I'm happy.

In the silver, it looks like something Flash Gordon should be piloting. It really was a good looking aircraft, pity it was a killer. You are doing a fine job of  portraying its sleek lines Alistair.

Craig.

Thanks Craig,

It's a sleek looking beastie.

Alistair

A couple of bits were sanded back gently, smoothed out, resprayed and the grey that I'd forgotten about was painted on the tailplane.

Stickers were applied and thankfully there weren't many.

I'll get another clear coat on tomorrow and make a start on the undercarriage and doors.

Fond memories of sitting on a wall with a friend, watching a barn swallow fly a racetrack pattern (with a pull to vertical and swoop back down on one end) over a lawn for quite some time.  I wonder if, besides eating insects, it was enjoying some imaginative (or just real) thrill in the flying.

I think your Swallow looked best (so far) in black- that first shot looks like some sort of angry bat!

Thanks Roger, too kind.

I find the Alclad HSS the easiest and most forgiving of their range that I've used.

It goes down nicely and can take some sanding and respraying without blemishes.

It's probably down to it being a paint rather than a true metallic.

Thanks bob,

It did look rather good in the black but hopefully it will come together nicely.

The various sundry bits for he undercarriage were primed and painted yesterday.

Flat Aluminium for the inside and High speed Silver for the outers.

I gave the fuselage a light wash this morning and then the undercarriage was fitted.

I had to grind a fair bit off either side of the nose wheel and the undercarriage parts to get a reasonable fit apart from that it went swimmingly.

I'll finish the nose gear with a light was and then an overall satin coat and after unmasking I think that will be that.

Thanks for looking,

Alistair

I gave it a satin coat earlier on and the canopy has been unmasked.
