BK's eighth [and ninth?] build; Hunter F.6 / T. Mk.7, PK-117

Recommended Posts

Another I'm on the main build list for doing

I have two different issues of this kit

When I open the two sealed boxes to take the photos I found something strange

1. The regular RAF F6/T. Mk.7

Matchbox%20Hawker%20Hunter%20T.%20Mk.7,%

The plastic for this one; Very dark blue fuselage frame, light blue wings frame and cream other bits frame

2. The 'Blue Diamonds' T Mk.7 issue

Matchbox%20Hawker%20Hunter%20T.%20Mk.7,%

Matchbox%20Hawker%20Hunter%20T.%20Mk.7,%

The parts in this one; Light grey fuselage frame, dark green wings frame, and a sort-of RAF 'Interior Green' other parts frame

Matchbox%20Hawker%20Hunter%20T.%20Mk.7,%

Matchbox%20Hawker%20Hunter%20T.%20Mk.7,%

Matchbox%20Hawker%20Hunter%20T.%20Mk.7,%

I expected the frames to be vice-versa

Both boxes were sealed, The Blue Diamond one still had cellophane wrapping on it.

I reckon the 'Blue Diamond' will be first, but using the blue plastic

I started on the 'Blue Diamond; T.7 this evening

The instruction call for 20g in the nose. This is what 20g looks like crammed into the two nose pieces;

Matchbox%20Hawker%20Hunter%20T.%20Mk.7,%

Two big steel ball bearings, white tac and lots of lead

I've made up a stock of jet engine exhaust pipes. These Hunters will require one each. One fitted into the rear of this T.7

Matchbox%20Hawker%20Hunter%20T.%20Mk.7,%

Tanks made up, the seams need scaping smooth yet

Matchbox%20Hawker%20Hunter%20T.%20Mk.7,%

The cockpit to fuselage join is usually a weak joint on these kits so I've drilled a couple of holes, glued in some thick sprue which will be an extra glued joint in the fuselage

Matchbox%20Hawker%20Hunter%20T.%20Mk.7,%

The cockpit section is now glued to the fuselage and the wide trainer's spine fitted. I'll leave it over night for the joins to set.

I've glued the wing halves together. I want to put a triangular piece of plastic card in the engine intake area to blank it off better

I'm not sure if I should do this one wheels-up in flight, or wheels-down

The fuselage all joined up. It needed a lot of fillers

Matchbox%20Hawker%20Hunter%20T.%20Mk.7,%

I blanked off the insides of the intakes. See firther down for the reason for the black semi-circle

Matchbox%20Hawker%20Hunter%20T.%20Mk.7,%

Wings on, more fillers and aluminium paint to even out the colours and prepare the wing tips for white paint

Matchbox%20Hawker%20Hunter%20T.%20Mk.7,%

Pilots are ready

Matchbox%20Hawker%20Hunter%20T.%20Mk.7,%

Tail planes on, wing tips got a first couple of coats of white paint

Matchbox%20Hawker%20Hunter%20T.%20Mk.7,%

Fuselage and tail planes have a first coat of Humbrol 25 enamel paint

Matchbox%20Hawker%20Hunter%20T.%20Mk.7,%

The black semi-circle in the intake along with some black on the fuselage tricks the eye into thinking there is a deep hole there, if anyone bother to get down and that close!

Matchbox%20Hawker%20Hunter%20T.%20Mk.7,%

When the fuselage paint is dry I can put the undercart on, its all ready painted and just waiting its turn to get glued on, and mask off the white wing tips and then paint the wings
