Picked up one of these and looking for some hints and tips to do it justice as my brother served in one during Op Granby.

I know that the wheels aren't too accurate and there are replacements available. 

What other add-ons are available? PE grilles, equipment etc

Guessing that colour would be light stone for the desert paint scheme. 

 

Hints and tips on diorama or base building and any opinions/comments welcome.

Light Stone BSC361.  In theory this should be the same colour as the WW2 Light Stone BS61, but there are those who contend that it is not.

 

Any parts for a Mk5 Cent will be appropriate for the basic tank.  There are no grilles as the engine deck has a form of louvres.  AFAIK there are no AVRE-specific parts available.

 

The wheels are pretty poor.  The wheel discs are the wrong profile, as are the tyres.  This has been discussed here before in a thread about the Shot Kal kit, which shares many common parts.  There are several alternatives.  In the UK the alternatives are probably Panzer Art or Sovereign 2000.  You can get the former and other Centurion bits from Wildcats Models here  https://wildcatsmodels.com/search?search_query=centurion&poscats=&search_query=centurion&submit_search=Search&orderby=quantity&orderway=desc&n=48
