Pampa Cowboy...1/48 North American T-6G Texan, Fuerza Aérea Uruguaya

Recommended Posts

My dad´s next project, one of two Texans.

Gonna use the Revell Germany boxing of the good old Monogram kit which was first released in 1979.

Decals come from FCM

  • Reini78 changed the title to Jungle Cowboy...1/48 North American T-6G Texan, Fuerza Aérea Uruguaya

change of plan...the camouflaged Brazilian Texans all had two bomb racks and a special rocket rack for three rockets

didn´t find any good close-up pics or drawings to locate the exact position and shape of the racks for scratchbuilding, besides that there was a bulge under the wing gun, didn´t find any suitable piece to replicate that

therefore the model will receive an Uruguayan scheme, using Armyast decals

@Reini78,

As with my comment on the Brazilian T-6, the Uruguayan ones may not have the formation lights under the fuselage, especially if they were either manufactured in Brazil or purchased from the FAB.

Cheers,

Wlad

the fit of the landing light covers was bad, needed filling with glue, sanding and polishing

the look a bit clearer than on the pic

any idea what the bulge on the belly right after the wings could be? some kind of antenna, or a fat a$$ formation/position light?

372 is the only FAU Texan that had such a big bulge

the cowl numbers were way too large, more for 1/32

could mostly remove them with a masking tape, a bit sanding and repainting was necessary

found a suiting replacement with a RAF code letters/numers decal sheet from Fantasy Printshop
