Seamus
Morning all, Latest off the bench is this Growler. Originally intended for the F/A-18 STGB, I ran out of steam long before the deadline, but am happy to finally get it over the line. It's the Hasegawa kit with a load of extras thrown at it: Eduard zoom set in the cockpit, Pavla seats, Wolfpack wings for the drooped flaps and Twobobs decals for the VAQ-209 markings. I had hoped to go with the Darth Vader CAG jet, but annoyingly the decals were out of register for that scheme, so I opted for a low viz line jet instead. At least Vader is still present on the fins... Painted using Mr Color with Hataka Orange Line and Alcad for the details. From searching through images of these jets, they're kept pretty clean compared to other Super Hornets, so I kept the weathering fairly light, but wanted to add some shading and fading to the paintwork for interest. Some images I found showed these jets carrying dirty fuel tanks, so I weathered these up a bit more using a new technique that I've far from mastered.... Vultures1
Very nice work! I like the contrast between the relatively clean airframe and the dirty tanks - top job
Robin-42
Drop tanks get no respect. I saw a photo of a pristine F101A at an airshow. The aircraft gleamed. The drop tanks looked like someone had taken a sledgehammer to them!
