I only ever remember seeing those with light grey undersides in the pamphlets that my dad brought back from his business trips. Thanks for that offer kind Sir - might one hold that offer in abeyance. One's plan for the 'X' involves white strip from unused portions of the sheet. One's plan B for the 'X' involves cutting the heads off two unused 'A's, and applying them apex to apex. We'll see how that works out. One is going to ignore the wing root fillets, hoping that one's subjects don't notice, but one will offset the nose-gear to port. Hi, I've not seen photos of any Tridents in this scheme with an overall white fuselage, looking at the photo you posted of HM at Luqa there is a white pinstripe under the black cheatline and the lower fuselage is very pale grey. As lovely as it is to see the old BEA scheme, there are a few things not quite right with the re-paint so I wouldn't trust it compared with period photos. theplasticsurgeon Posted June 2, 2022 Author Share Posted June 2, 2022 Some progress today. Fuselage assembled, and windscreen painted blue inside. Wings assembled, and airbrushed Humbrol 19 red. Engines assembled, and airbrushed Humbrol 11 silver. My thoughts on the underside colour, is the lightest grey I can find. I'll see whether I recorded the grey for the wings of my British Airways Trident. I've found photos on Airliners.Net for either side of this tour, confirming the grey underside. I'd imagine this aircraft was washed and pristine before royal duty, and is photoed in bright sunlight I can't see a pinstripe on my decals, so that detail might have to be lost. Left in the shed to set hard now, at least until Sunday. My previous experience of this paint was Aeromacci build, where I found that it took ages to dry properly. Any paint over it tended to crack. theplasticsurgeon Posted June 6, 2022 Author Share Posted June 6, 2022 Tailplane fitted, then White, by a Poundland aerosol. As the ingredients say Acetate and Acetone - I'm assuming this is Acrylic. Could any Chemist on here confirm please? Also includes Xylene (is that the gas chamber stuff?) - so I'm leaving it in my shed until tomorrow. Demasked, and wings dryfitted. Triple-turbo bypass fans, and fuelled on a mixture of paint-stripper and acetylene. Capable of sustained hypersonic flight - it was cancelled because the Queen disliked the brutal acceleration, which caused her to spill her tea.. Progress, first the G-APRX decals. Tailband, using tops of 'A's found in my spares box. These were wider than those in the kit. Upper wing, straight bits from unused letters in the kit. Lower wing, tops of 'A's from the kit. These are too narrow. The first that I applied, lower wing for concealment - an unsuccessful trial. Other progress, wing slats brush painted Humbrol 11 silver, flaps airbrushed 27002 polished aluminium. Wings and engines are now fitted. Airline insignias - in fact decals are completed. Just the undercarriage left , and any aerials. Edited: Since then I've realised that the whole leading edge of G-ARPX is metal, so repainted.
