James @81-er and John @Biggles87 suggest some “family photos” with my previous “naked” builds, so here are some pickies…

My first attempt, a “wooden” mossy…

the wood effect was made using a PE mask

My most recent, a Polikarpov i-16

these wood decals were from AK

these wood decals were a model specific set from Uschi

as always, any suggestions, criticisms or comments will be gratefully received.

John,

A lovely and thoughtful treatment of this subject, and a most engaging and educational WIP. It's been a pleasure to watch and the result certainly doesn't disappoint,

Cheers,

Roger

They are all charming and interesting models, and very well done. I'd seen the mosquito before but missed all of the others so it's been good to catch up.

Would you consider doing a modern aircraft with its combination of steel, aluminium and composites?

The finished product looks absolutely fantastic, John, you're right to be proud of that. Thank you for the family pictures as well, they make an excellent collection. You've really honed the art of naked aircraft :)

Really good to see the construction of these a/c and a pleasure to see them in something other than the "standard" camo patterns.

Lovely work all round.

Pete

I find your models skillful and... provocative! This Hurricane certainly has me thinking about its composite construction and makes for a striking presentation.

I really like these kits and think they make a lovely change to what we see and model all the time. Two big ticks for originality and craftsmanship.
Cheers and well modelled.. Dave

Brilliant work on the Hurricane, and the others! Being partial to Soviet aircraft, I especially like that I-16. Next to the Hurricane, you can see just how tiny it was. I'd love to give a wooden-winged Il-2 Shturmovik this treatment.

Regards,

Jason
