Definitely looking sexy in black Alistair, the mustang dear chap.

Heading in the right direction.

Stay safe.

Simon.

Thanks Simon

I think the way ahead is a little clearer. Some colour will help

Looking good in black. Just make sure you don’t fit the Sunderland beaching gear by accident!

Adrian

Thanks Adrian,

I'll do my best.;)

Thanks Roger,

I'll try to get some colour on today.

It'll be white though and maybe some black.

While the making for the Sunderland went swimmingly this not quite so.

I was planning on masking off and spraying white to complete the Invasion Stripes in one go but the black got scratched on the wings in a few places.

So original plan for fuselage and plan b for the wings.

After the white was flung in the general direction of plastic.

There are numerous touch ups required.

Thanks for looking,

I would not worry too much Alistair, most of the "Invasion Stripes" were just brush painted on, and not that particular either.

Stay safe.

Simon.

Thanks Simon.

I know they were pretty much put on with a sweeping brush but there are a couple of runs into the panel lines that I want to get rid of.

Just to tidy it up a wee bit.

The fuselage stripes look great; the wings will be every bit as good when you're done! :)

Cheers,

Thanks Mark, that is very kind.

Invasion stripes and I don't get on very well but I keep practicing.

Alistair

I do like invasion stripes on a model.  I always have trouble with negative space masking, notwithstanding the scratches you seem not to al all!

It'll get there eventually

Ooohh I like the fuselage stripes Alistair, and now you're all set up to deliver the wing ones (black over white will be much easier than white over black, I think).

Thanks Cookie

It should make the measurement easier

I did a little masking after work last night and finished it off when I got in tonight.

After this was done then a quick blast of Nato Black and when dried a little I did some touch ups to the fuselage stripes.

I'll get that all masked off tomorrow and then some Medium Sea Grey, hopefully.

Thanks for looking,

Very nice Alistair

Chris

Thanks Chris,

You know when I said more tomorrow, well,

All the Invasion Stripes were masked up.

MBwoDOt.jpg

Then some Medium Sea Grey and after that a couple of drops of Royal Light grey added to the mix and an attempt at a little post shading.

I figured if I messed it up the underside would be easier to sort but it's come out very nicely.

A subtle variation in the tone which isn't really visible in the photo but I can see it in natural light.

There may be more masking and Ocean Grey tomorrow.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair

Nice progress Alistair.  I don’t remember, is this a wheels up model or are the u/c covers a good enough fit to use as masks?

Thanks Mark,

It's going to be wheels down. The undercarriage doors are a good fit. I had to nip off the locating tabs from the inboard doors but some blu tac in the well and they are solid.

I had to be careful not to push them in too far as the door actuators are in the way.

Once the main paint work is done I'll pop them off and get the inside of them painted.

Alistair

Morning masking achieved and then some Ocean Grey chucked in the general direction.

Once that had settled a bit the Ocean Grey was lightened a tad with two drops of Royal Light Grey and some fading attempted.

Again it's a little more visible in natural light.

Once that has had a chance to dry I'll get the Dark Green on.

Thanks for looking,

Alistair

Thanks Roger,

Not too shabby to be honest.

I got busy with the AK Masking Putty out and then went tonto with Dark Green and then added a couple of drops of Flat Green.

I waited as patiently as I could then got as much of the masking off as I could at the moment.

That'll be allowed to dry a bit and I'll mask off for the Yellow leading edge bits.

Thanks for looking,

Once that has all dried completely I'll pop the doors off and give it a clear coat and stickers.

I can also start work on the final bits, ailerons, wheels, prop, spinner, pitot and legs.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair

Beautiful, just beautiful. I like the way you make producing works of art like this seem effortless. I was just reading in the new edition of Airfix Model World that the initial production run  of this kit has sold out and I can see why.
